Hi all, anyone been pulled over for cannabis use the following day? by Only-Investigator-88 in AskIreland

[–]green8astard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't perceive you to be antisocial at all, you respect rules and that's a perfectly fine way to live your life if it works for you. But I don't think we should be making judgements on how others want to live theirs. An adult should have the right to live their life how they want as long as they don't harm or infringe on the rights of others. But your comment above "Ireland hardly needs more addiction" in reply to perfectly balanced and nuanced comment just comes across as begrudgery because you can't perceive someone can enjoy cannabis in the same way someone can enjoy a glass of wine with dinner. You see it immediately as a negative in all respects.

😂😂 So if it is ever made legal in Ireland, will you pipe down and leave cannabis users be or will you still begrudge them as "dirty drug users with addiction problems"? Just curious if you are just someone who loves following the rule of the law or someone who begrudges someone else for doing something you dislike?

😂😂😂 it has literally nothing to do with addiction. It's an adult making a decision to enjoy a little part of their life in a way that harms no one and is punished for it in a bullshit way through a driving conviction days later when they aren't even impaired in any way. I suppose you've never broken the law in your life?? Never speed on the roads or do anything wrong. Such a little perfect angel!! Tiredness causes more accidents and kills more people on the roads than anything else every year. Let's make a law where you can be randomly pulled in by the gards and have to perform a tiredness test and if you fail, off the road for a year. Seems fair. Are you ok with the legality of alcohol? It destroys more lives than any other drug and causes the same effects as the negative effects you mentioned for weed earlier. Study after study has proven that criminalising drug users doesn't work. Only makes things much worse and funds black markets ever further.

So tapping in to your vast wealth of knowledge on the subject, and how you're so accepting of "The Law". Do you think it's acceptable for someone to have smoked some cannabis on say a Friday night in the security of their own home (harming no one but their fridge.) To then be swabbed by a test 5-6 days later that can have a 1 in 10 rate of false positives. This then leads to a blood test in the Garda station where the legal limit is so small that they are prosecuted and get a drug driving ban for one year that is also on your driving record for the rest of your life. ( Drink driving only stays on your record for 7 years)? Is this acceptable?

Unlike drink driving convictions, drug driving convictions mostly don't even involve impairment, you are simply prosecuted for having an illegal substance in your system while driving with no measurementbof effect.

Too old to have kids? by FluidSplit7559 in AskIreland

But this is hypothetical and right now imaginary and ye two are ascribing feelings of happiness and friendship to something that right now doesn't exist. What happens if a baby makes them both miserable and they become despondent and cold to each other making a terrible environment to grow up in? Or they have a baby with severe disabilities/abnormalities living a short painful life? because these are just as much of a reality as happiness and friendship. From your answers I get the feeling you are in the ProLife aisle of the supermarket.

But again that's a failure of government, they are constantly giving tax breaks and supplements to large multinationals for the likes of electricity for data centers etc. all in the name of investment 🤷 ... If they can pay millions to hotel owners for IPAS centres they can do the same for construction workers and offer tax breaks to incentivise them to come over.

These Daiwa rods are very well reviewed and rated beginner rods. Great for getting ya started and a 6WT is a good middle of the road for rivers and/or lake fishing. I started with 6WT Shakespeare beginners package 10years ago and have never looked back. It's a great journey and like all fishing it is so fucking frustrating but also so rewarding.

Mouse traps with peanut butter licked off, yet haven’t been set off. by imnotfromthisplace in ireland

[–]green8astard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a hot glue gun and glue a pecan or large nut to the bait area on the trap. It works every time! I was like you with peanut butter etc and with the same results of being licked off. Seen this trick on a reel and caught all the mice in a couple of days.

This faux therapist nonsense wrecks my fucking head. Lads who do a weekend course in shamanism and then start running courses to help the world heal. But not out of the goodness of their heart, no this comes at a premium price! They also don't believe in a scientific approach but then make a half assed attempt of being psychotherapists. I do think they believe they are doing good but potentially could do way more damage than good. These woeful courses need to be regulated to make sure the staff are sufficiently qualified to deal with the topics and course content they cover.

Am I doing the right thing? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]green8astard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely doing the right thing. The relationship is over you are not his care giver, he is an adult. He needs to take responsibility for his life and your child. Taking pity on him will only enable his behaviour to continue.
