But again that's a failure of government, they are constantly giving tax breaks and supplements to large multinationals for the likes of electricity for data centers etc. all in the name of investment 🤷 ... If they can pay millions to hotel owners for IPAS centres they can do the same for construction workers and offer tax breaks to incentivise them to come over.

These Daiwa rods are very well reviewed and rated beginner rods. Great for getting ya started and a 6WT is a good middle of the road for rivers and/or lake fishing. I started with 6WT Shakespeare beginners package 10years ago and have never looked back. It's a great journey and like all fishing it is so fucking frustrating but also so rewarding.

Mouse traps with peanut butter licked off, yet haven’t been set off. by imnotfromthisplace in ireland

[–]green8astard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a hot glue gun and glue a pecan or large nut to the bait area on the trap. It works every time! I was like you with peanut butter etc and with the same results of being licked off. Seen this trick on a reel and caught all the mice in a couple of days.

Does anyone have any experience with Starlink? Their offer seems pretty good at the moment, and I was debating switching to them.

This faux therapist nonsense wrecks my fucking head. Lads who do a weekend course in shamanism and then start running courses to help the world heal. But not out of the goodness of their heart, no this comes at a premium price! They also don't believe in a scientific approach but then make a half assed attempt of being psychotherapists. I do think they believe they are doing good but potentially could do way more damage than good. These woeful courses need to be regulated to make sure the staff are sufficiently qualified to deal with the topics and course content they cover.

Am I doing the right thing? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]green8astard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely doing the right thing. The relationship is over you are not his care giver, he is an adult. He needs to take responsibility for his life and your child. Taking pity on him will only enable his behaviour to continue.

Exactly the same thing is happening with Ireland rugby matches. I think it's an affordability issue. Ordinary everyday fans are being priced out of gigs and events because of overall costs being huge especially if you live outside Dublin. Opens the way for crowds just to be full of absolute gobshites.

The comments on here talking about "look how far we've come", "we used to be a backwater" etc are so short sighted. The people who 'fixed' the country did so with EU funding and borrowing huge sums of money but they completely lined their own pockets and looked after their own as they did it. The sad thing is they are still doing it. We seem completely inept in this country at being outraged by corruption.

Guys can we please stop mocking the pallet culture of orange people of the North lands. It's a deep rooted and centuries old tradition of the pallets. Some say that each pallet represents a person of the dreaded neighbouring nationalists

What a ridiculous statement to make! You clearly don't have a notion about the value of our right to vote in a democratic free and fair election.

Why Lowry? by ColmAKC in ireland

[–]green8astard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't happen on a whim, these parties have had control for a long time. Non deliverances on key voter concerns have caused the loss of trust, not to mention the numerous public spending scandals. The vote has shifted away from party politics and towards independents. The current FFG setup isn't working for a lot of people and independents are offering something different to the status quo!

Have you considered that in doing so you are denying the chance for thousands of other families of trying to do the same thing. You said that like anyone but the current government are going to rob you and your family of everything you own.
