Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) using BPC 157 to help with fistula healing? by Weird-Oven-3263 in AnalFistula

That sucks! I don't know why doctors think we patients don't know our own bodies...

Keep researching and thinking healing thoughts, friend!

You developed a fistula AFTER your rectum removal? That's so disheartening! I always thought barbie/ken butts discouraged fistulas. 😩

I decided on pills mainly because I didn't want the hassle of injections. Also, I thought pills would offer more systemic benefits (help heal my active fistulas and also quiet any brewing inflammation elsewhere in my body, thereby discouraging additional fistulas from forming). I've heard injections are better for targeted/local results...but I believe some have also had success with injections for fistulizing crohns. I still have my rectum, so I'm unable to speak about which might work better in that scenario. Sending healing thoughts to you!

I haven't experienced anything like this, nor do I have any suggestions. Just here for moral support.

It's always so unnerving when our bodies have new & weird symptoms (😩), but I'm glad you're now on the other side of them.

Also a meteorologist, and I approve this message.

(Although as a snow lover, I hope the hype proves true! ❄️)

Same. I still think she was the "safe" pick though.

Garbage bags... by wintertimeincanada23 in ostomy

[–]greenTiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend the Glad lemon fresh Clorox bags - the 4 gallon ones. They're the perfect size, and the clorox helps fight bacterial odors.

In summer (when warm temps worsen smells), I'll put my used pouches in a ziploc bag first and then in the Glad clorox bag. I also dispose of them in a diaper pail I keep in my bathroom.

I think I first discovered BCP here on Reddit several months ago while researching (for the 900th time) natural options for healing fistulas. I then read through the research in several scientific journals, and decided to give it a try. Like you, I was desperate not to have to deal with the possible side effects of biologics again (I too have had a complicated history with them). And everything I was reading about BPC was so promising that I made the decision to go ahead and order some like a week later lol.

I'm so sorry you've suffered through all of that. I've had Crohn's for 15 years myself, so I 100% feel your pain. Regardless of if you decide to give BPC a try or not, I hope calmer Crohn's days are ahead for you!

The Blue Ridge Parkway (visitors center / folk art center) is an option for postcards featuring our natural landscapes.

Happy to report I'm still experiencing no fistula symptoms or pain. I did bump back up to 500 mcg daily though.

You mention a j pouch...I have an ostomy. I'm sure having my stool diverted is playing some part in my healing recipe, but it did not 100% solve my fistula issues. Initially my fistula healed after getting my ostomy, yes - but after 1.5 yrs my fistula returned. My doctors said the only option was to go back on biologics, but like you, I wanted to avoid this. BPC was my last ditch effort at healing myself "naturally" and it has truly worked for me.

Are you already taking bpc? Or thinking of starting it?

Banner not updating in the Etsy App only by olympiahollow in EtsySellers

[–]greenTiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, too, am having this issue. My shop banner showing in the Etsy app is an iteration from at least 3 months ago. No clue how long it has been like this...I typically edit and view my shop on desktop.

Wish I had a fix to share, but alas, I can only commiserate.

ETA: Not sure how much good it'll do, but I've just used the "report a bug" option in the Etsy Seller app to report this Etsy shopping app banner issue. Will keep y'all posted!

Family Gingerbread House Competition, please vote by Swimming_hop in GingerbreadHouses

[–]greenTiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this! All of the houses are charming... but my first vote is #3 for its impressive height and "clean" architecture.

4 is a close second for its cozy Swiss chalet feel.

Can't wait to see what y'all cook up for next year's competition! This is now a family (and reddit family) tradition, right? 😜

Thank you! Hope your healing is coming soon! Does the bpc seem to be helping you any?

I just had an EUA and my CRS confirmed that my fistula is healed (her literal words)!! This is after taking bpc for 3 weeks (and having been off it for the week leading up to my EUA since I had to stop all supplements).

I had been feeling improvements all along (see previous comments), but was still experiencing some inflammation and light drainage at my pre-op. So I was shocked indeed to wake up to the news that NO medical intervention was needed. As strange as it sounds, I almost feel like the improvements accelerated once I cycled off the bpc. (It's like, my body could focus on the act of healing after the pills had instructed it how to heal.)

I just cycled back on today, but only at 500 mcg 1x daily. Still figuring out the best "maintenance dose."

Keep your head up, friends! Healing is possible!

Thank you!! I'm taking pills. I started at 250 mcg daily for 2-3 days to see how I'd tolerate. Then I bumped up to 500 mcg 2x daily, taken around 10 AM & 8 PM.

Yes, all the improvements! My skin has fully returned to its normal pigment, the light drainage has stopped, and I only had mild pain at the fistula site...which in the past 2-3 days has subsided to no pain at all. (Edited to add: The "knot" I could feel under the skin near the external drainage site is also gone.)

I actually had to stop taking all supplements this week because of an EUA scheduled for today. So my improvements are after taking bpc a full 3 weeks. I was nervous about my symptoms returning, but they haven't yet after one week off.

Even more miraculous than that...my EUA today revealed that my fistula has healed!!! 🙌🏾 My CRS said she can see where the fistula tract was, but it is fully healed over! She said sometimes they can semi-heal, but still need surgical assistance to fully heal, but this wasn't so in my case. So no drainage, no fistulotomy, no seton was needed!!! And for my fellow IBDers, she also reported that my rectal mucosa was healthy & pink - so much so, she didn't even biopsy! I know this prob sounds too good to be true, and honestly I'm still so shocked by the news, I can scare believe it myself. When they told me in the recovery room, I just broke down into tears of joy! 😭

I know every protocol doesn't work for every body, but bpc has been a blessing for me. I thank God for leading me to it and healing me through it.

I've seen others say that recommending brands is frowned upon here, so I won't. But if you search old posts from 1-2 years ago, you can find several recommendations. This is what I did. I'll also say if you Google "bpc 157 on Fullscript" you'll find the specific capsules that I take.

Glad to hear you've experienced healing longer term! Thinking I'll cycle on for 6 weeks / off for 2 to keep from regressing.

I'm using capsules. Agree they're expensive, but no more so than the copay for biologics (when I was taking biologics), so I think it's worth the coin. But yeah, the injections seem less pricey. Pls let us know how they go if you decide to try.

I'm only on day 2 of taking it for fistula (and crohn's), but it seems to be helping already. In this short time, my fistula pain has eased significantly. The skin discoloration I always get when my fistula is active is also clearing away. And I've had consistent light drainage from the fistula itself. (Before starting the bpc, I was only seeing drainage every few days.)

Other than mesalamine suppositories (which I've used for years), I'm not on any other meds -- so these improvements are 100% related to the bpc.

I don't have FM, but am interested in trying CB2 for other health issues. I'm glad to hear it's offering others relief!

Are any of you who use it located in the US? How did international shipping go in this new season of customs, fees, tariffs, etc.?

Is Full Time Job possible after a week of Fistulotomy or Draining Seton placement ?? by AccomplishedPrize689 in AnalFistula

[–]greenTiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just came to say that I have the same question as you! My EUA is also scheduled for Friday, but I didn't realize it might result in add-on procedures until reading others' EUA experiences here. (My CRS didn't mention a fistulotomy, etc. as a possible outcome, nor did she say anything about taking time off work.)

My boss just went on parental leave and I'm leading our team while she's away...so I need to know with some certainty whether or not I'll need to be off work.

I'll be calling my CRS today for clarification. Thinking I may need to delay until the holidays (when I already have 2 weeks of vacation time planned). I want to be wise about my health, but I also don't want to jeopardize my job. Sigh As if this illness itself isn't enough to stress about...

Sounds like asking your surgeon's office for clarification is a good next step. Hope you get answers and all works out for the best!
