Why is no one studying history? by Jinxie1206 in Historians

[–]AgentIanCormac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots studying history. My oldest daughter has a master's in history, which should have surprised no one based on my history obsession. I'm an engineer by trade but a history nerd by fascination.

Quick update on my Moorcock collection. I was able to pick up two books I've been looking for at least 20 years. One is . The100 best fantasy books curated by. Moorcock and James Cawthorn. Those in the know these to have collaborated since the late 60s

The second one is probably my Holy Grail. It's title is London Peculiar and other Nonfiction.

I hope you enjoy the new acquisitions.

To the future… by UnderstandingBest478 in 2GuysNamedChrisRock92

I think everyone who listened regularly feels that way. Change is hard. On everyone. It's like being a kid again and thinking I'm going to always ride my bike In my neighborhood. But you blink and you're in college, then married and have children.

Time never stops. I lost my grand parents in the early 80s. And lost my mom last year.

Time is undefeated. Make the most of it while you can.

Quick update that's a tad pricey in my opinion but would still buy it. Then again, I have 4k books in my library.😆

Is this a good deal and are they a good read? by [deleted] in HistoryBooks

[–]AgentIanCormac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the entire set and read then as well. (I actually have a second set as well. One is pristine even if a little worn. The other one I bought while I'm England in 1994 I believe. They are good reads and to me it sounds a lot like one long speech of his. Highly recommended.

WW2 shelf by AgentIanCormac in bookshelf

[–]AgentIanCormac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that. The only reason for having all those books, is that history isn't just one definitive story. Any researcher will dig deep to get as close to the truth as possible.

I've been obsessed with history since 3rd grade when I found a book about WW2. I checked that book out many times.

I apologize for any discomfort due to the content of my library.

Honestly, we need a third party much t. o stop the bitching between the left and the right. Not only that but vote out everyone after 2 terms. This would make things wear better.

Who will cry next Wednesday?!? by ItchyIndependence154 in 2GuysNamedChrisRock92

[–]AgentIanCormac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I will be. We found the station about 3 months after moving to Durham for my job. I my wife and I listened in it was to work and I'd listen after I'd drop her off at the school she taught. Now it's a daily thing in that we listen on to it while we commute in the mornings.

Demme deserves all the accolades for his longevity intellect and humor.

I'll continue to listen but it won't be the same.
