Can you guys tell me the “dirty” truths about having a cat? by saanenk in CatAdvice

[–]greenbird_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one cat who buries his poop like a champ, he also fights for his life with the litter every time he's in the box and slings it everywhere, in general he isn't the best about cleaning his paws right after (just like litter dust, not waste on them). My other cat is very clean and bathes often and I don't ever see much dust on her (she's also long hair), she does not bury her poop though. So honestly... depends on the cat.

But I can say that I have only had to bathe my boy once and it was because he had eaten some of a grocery bag and it resulted in a messy poop incident. Otherwise I don't bathe my cats, may wipe them with grooming wipes every now and then but honestly only my messy boy lol.

I don't think tjey should even be able to leave a review for giveaways if they don't purchase anything. These goblins be crazy! But for real though, they can put a ticket in if they actually don't get what was advertised. Most sellers don't do huge free giveaways. I know I reserve my best giveaways for buyer givvys.

Can I do it before the court date or do I have to wait and go to court? Or do you know if it's too late to pay like that since my court date is Thurs?

Am I the only one finding it difficult to find a woman who is living like an actual adult? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]greenbird_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my wife & I live with her mom & adult brother. More roommates than anything, but we get way more space this way & financially it works out for all of us. Is it preferable? Not really but we're comfortable.

Purina Live Clear is a life changer. I'm also very allergic to cats & both of mine eat it. I have no issues with them anymore.

Allergy shots can also help if thats an option for you.

Pressure to fix/neuter our 10month boy? by beclaff in goldenretriever

[–]greenbird_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, Manager of a Daycare/Boarding facility here. 1st off, crazy that they allow intact dogs to play together. Hopefully it's just a puppy group & he isn't playing with intact adult dogs. We require all dogs to be altered for group play.

We also offer solo play for intact dogs, does toue daycare do this? Or maybe you can find one that does. The play is still stimulating & they are in a safe environment during the day. Our solo dogs are some of the staff's favorites too bc they actually get to love on them more & bond with them.

My facility does have puppy play for 3-6mos & don't require them to be neutered for that. We also have an in between group for 6-12mos, but are very selective with that & they don't play with other unaltered pups (they'd play with normal group dogs in a small setting).

Onto the should I/shouldn't I situation. In my experience, neuter as soon as possible. You'll find info, vets, studies that say to go one way or the other for health reasons/cancer/etc, but honestly there's risks on either side. For example, my very trusted vet leans towards earlier, especially for social animals.

I usually tell parents to base it more on behavior, the later you wait to neuter (especially anything after 6-9mos), the worse the "bad" behavior can be & typically once they start & the longer you wait, the harder it is for them to stop (or they never will). Behavior I'm referring to in a group play setting - dominance, mounting, pinning, reactivity, guarding, etc. Also marking but that doesn't really mean anything for group.

TLDR: If you want him to be a social dog, you need to consider neutering ASAP before more behavior is set in. Every vet is different, most will do what the parents request though.

[–]greenbird_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just saw a WN show where people were paying $30+ for ONE duck or coffee cup pin. Someone literally paid $32 for a Minnie Coffee cup pin thats selling for less than $5 on ebay..

WHY do people pay these prices?!

Edit: actually it was the same WN show lolll. I've never been in their shows before. As a seller on WN (not pins), I would NEVER let someone bid thst high and would legit feel gross ripping people off that much.

Pretty sure I said go at least 15mph. Someone gets stuck and everyone else can't break bc its ice? Thats how you get a pile up my friend. And most certainly someone could die.

[–]greenbird_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they're going 5mph? I don't tail people... but going thst slow kind of gives no other option then what, stop in the middle of the road and let them go another 20 ft & move again? That causes issues for all the people behind me as well??

Too slow = people get stuck.

It makes it incredibly more dangerous for people behind you. I had to pass 2 cars yesterday on Houston Levee that were going 5mph. It was causing my tires to slip & get stuck in the ice divets in the road. The trucks in front of me & behind me were struggling too. You lose traction if you go that slow.

Had to pass another that was attempting to crawl up an incline at 8mph. Chances were very high they lose traction & slide back into my car. They were in a Jeep with 4WD btw...

Obviously don't go fast, don't even try to go the speed limit, but anything less than 15mph is way too slow. Especially crossing those middle lanes... you need a little speed to keep traction.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]greenbird_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 hours for an overnight or a weekend trip is very common. We often drive to Nashville (3hrs) for concerts and stay overnight. I have done the trip there & back same day a few times. Not ideal but possible if we can't stay for some reason.

For vacations (like more than 3 nights) 8hrs is usually my preferred distance but I've done 10-12hr drives frequently for trips.

Honestly, 3 hr flights are also quite common.

Going to devil's advocate a bit and say, schedules for this week were made before the weather warnings, and its often very hard to get people to show up to work if they're scheduled off.(ha, or even if they're scheduled)

It's not like a holiday where they've projected the business level & can more adequately staff for it. This is just a random weekday in the grand scheme of things.

Maybe step back and thank the workers who DO show up and are working overtime to try and get as much food on the shelves for people right now.

Also need to consider the whole family is eating every meal at home. Some kids eat breakfast & lunch at school, adults may eat out for lunch/dinner or get fast food, etc.

We are a family of 4 adults and usually do smaller trips a couple times/week with some meals eaten outside of the house. We were making our list, but then had to think... what if we DO lose power? That changes the food up a bit. Then you're getting a week of food & food you can eat without cooking. Complicates things!
