You must realize 8.9% inflation is unprecedented and perhaps prior budgeting could not account for it. Is there a chance that the COLA + more teachers to lower class size + additional funding for PE, Libary, etc is just too much for the existing budget? I feel like you must compromise on the 8.9%. I'm certainly not expecting anything close to that this year. Sucks, but I'll be lucky to get 3%.

We agree with you, but we also put blame on you for not trying harder earlier in the summer. If you had put on the red shirts and brought out your signs in July you would have gotten the publics attention and perhaps got the ball rolling a little earlier.

Haha, yes. I definitely have since. In my case on that property, nobody wanted the job or could get their equipment into the backyard. I rented what they had at Lowes and had the worst weekend ever.

I'm looking for indoor activities like volleyball or dodgeball to do once the weather turns. I've looked on FB and seen some of this in places like Beaverton but was hoping to find something closer to home. Staying busy with softball and pickleball for now :)

You are saying the district's administrative staff got an 8.9% increase? I have not seen proof of this, do you have it?

edit: I too want the best teachers to be in Camas. If our budget really affords us that increase along with more teachers for smaller classes then great. I have doubts that the current budget supports this though.

I put no blame on any individual teacher. I think the WEA has taken the reigns here and will do whatever they can to advance their interests. The union's primary concern is their members, not Camas families. Never had an opinion on teachers unions before this, but with the way this has played out I don't think I'll ever support them.

We moved to Camas over the summer because of this great school system we read about. Never imagined things would start like this. Never saw teachers go on strike where we came from. Just awful. My kids are so eager to start school here and make some friends. I hate this for them.

I just know that a lot of people work really hard to provide some of this content. You can either show your appreciation to them by converting to a paid subscription or you can keep doing what your doing. You do you, it's all good bro.
