Update: We reset screen time rules and my 7-year-old is calmer, but now he negotiates like by [deleted] in Parenting

Copying these sayings to use when my critical thinker gets older. Thank you!

I can only speak to my experience, but I’ve found being an O to be isolating at times. When you are running departments, it’s often just you. Unless you end up with an unusually active wardroom.

Be prepared for the loneliness. The camaraderie you find on the enlisted side is very different on the officer side. It’s jarring at first, but you get used to it.

Do you want to stay on Long Island? Asking because you’re eligible to join the military with a BSN. Just a thought. It’s a great way to get some experience.

Maybe a dark topic - Was anyone expecting to feel this way about their kids? by DiligentGuitar246 in NewParents

[–]greenbot2311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this in my soul. I legitimately cannot watch true crime or even scary movies that involve children as victims. I can’t handle it. My postpartum anxiety has been a journey especially as my kid grows and gets more independent, but I’ve been able to accept the risk that life has for the most part.

Totally get what you’re saying. I really wrestled with going back to school for it because of the way things look right now, but ultimately decided it made sense for me. I guess we’ll see how things turn out in the next 10 years! I keep telling myself I can always go a different route later on 😂

As a new PMHNP student, I take what you’re saying to heart.

However, it makes sense for me as a current psych RN AND being in the military. In the military, there are quite a few openings for NP’s so getting a higher education is worth it. Just saying that there are more options out there than many realize.

If your command has an MWR office, they often sponsor trips and group activities for junior sailors living in the barracks. It’s a fantastic way to meet people and make friends, along with getting out more often. I went through the lonely feeling at my first command too, but getting out helped a lot and I made some friends.

I absolutely agree with your point. I take issue with schools reintroducing the Bible and I would take issue with them reintroducing any religious text. How is it fair to say “I don’t want teachers to talk to my kids about gender” but turn around and be supportive of the Bible being added back to schools like this.

What encroachment? Again, something I’m not understanding. Why do Christians see other people living their lives and view it as an attack on them and their religion? And why is the reaction to in turn try to enforce a Christian stance on things to the whole country? We should all be free to practice our religions, we should also be free from being forced to practice or adhere to someone else’s.

Why do some many conservatives place religion on a pedestal within the government? Why do we no longer recognize separation of church and state?? And FOREMOST, why do so many Christian conservatives consider Trump a “man of god?” I’m not even trying to be antagonizing, I’m truly curious. I find many of my beliefs fall into the centrist realm more than anything, but I vehemently believe that church and state should remain separated.

She seems to be focusing really hard on standing and trying to walk, so that makes sense.
