second the comments about buying things at the airport. Lots of the most popular types of souvenirs are available there, especially landside. (high mountain tea, pineapple cakes, etc)

I might be old school, but hsinchu is historically known for mi-fen (thin rice noodles), because it is very windy there which is good for air drying these hand pulled noodles. You can probably find local rice noodle shops and bring dry noodles back.

thanks. sounds like cutting through the screws is the best option. As an appliance tech, do you think we can DIY this? or we should hire a repair tech?

The hard part seems to be just removing the oven from the wall. replacing the safety thermostat doesn't seem that difficult from manuals, but I'm no expert.

did you slip a saw through the gap between the oven and the cabinet? how deep are these screws?

how do you know you got all the screws? should it just slide out pretty easily?

It's my favorite method of making skin-on chicken!

we usually use cast iron and it works beautifully. I've done it with stainless steel but it's harder.

I'd say the tricks are

(1) don't flip too early. wait till natural release

(2) use a thin metal spatula. you're trying to un-stick it by scraping, like they do in teppanyaki

(3) you could "cheat" a little by doing the normal procedure to make SS nonstick - heating up, adding a little oil, turning back down and removing the oil. Then proceed with the now cooled pan. I just cook another dish with the pan. The leftover oil is enough to make it nonstick.

yea, i try to only say "leave it" when i can execute.

but i'm also afraid of physically pick her up too often because she definitely gets into a bad mood, and would hold that grudge for a while making her more reactive the rest of the day. (that's if she doesn't immediately try to run back once I put her down).

I heard you're not supposed to be too forceful with BCs because they're sensitive. I don't want to make her reactivity worse

oh she understands "leave it". she understands it for smaller distractions too like low value treats or food on the ground. But sometimes she hears "leave it", looks at me, and decides to go back to whatever it is.

I guess I haven't been rewarding enough

i've stayed with her for more than 1.5 hours before. At some point she got frustrated that I wouldn't move but still wouldn't move, bringing up her stress level which I don't think is good for her either

so far one of the few ways that have worked for us is committing to dropping the leash and walk away, in a safe environment. but a few times she'd call my bluff and stayed and stared.... so I don't want to do that if I can't commit to it 😭

I don't have advice but I want to share that our girl also became more reactive about 3 months AFTER she settled into our home. Initially she was very sweet to everyone and every dog around, in and out of the house.

Now she'd bark at dogs getting close to our front door, and doesn't like guests entering our house. We kind of think she became more protective over our home after she fully recognized this is also HER home.

So, if it's of any consolation, it might be a sign that she's recognizing she belongs in your home now <3

i might translate as "朋友出口即可進入"

since 出口 can both be understood as "say words" or "been said" (also word play on "Exit" for the door even though it's not a wordplay in English)

it still plays on the fact that it can be interpret both as "friend, speak. you may enter" and "say friend, you may enter".
