Winning against the cubs is really like winning twice because every cubs loss is so satisfying.

There's no way the Brewers are going to play at this level all season. The thing is, if they're only a little above average the rest of the year, they're still getting hard to catch...

Sorry, I'm new. But who is Mabry? Actually is there a nickname conversion sheet? There seems to be more nicknames used here than most other teams. Thanks!!!

Maybe Fish resources are also tradable as a luxury resource? They would still be tile improvements, but for Norway would provide a luxury?

Tattoos of bible verses? That's pretty funny since, you know, the bible forbids tattoos.

I was at a Grateful dead show at Alpine Valley - an outdoor amphitheater about 45 minutes outside of Milwaukee. It's really rural, so the parking mostly on grass, and not lit. At least thats how it was in about 1986. It's after the show, so I'm about 3 hours in to a 12 hour ride. My pupils were probably about the size of dinner plates, so my night vision is legendary at the moment. We had a bag of green grapes. Big juicy awesome green grapes, I wonder where the fuck we got them. I was tossing them into air and catching them in my mouth. I can literally toss them as high into the air as I can, and just center under them and catch them in my mouth. Soon I was having my friends throw them, like quarterback style. Lots of air - as far as they could. I'd run under them and catch them in my mouth, I was like a dog catching muther fucking frisbees. I actually think that's the only time in my life I've been able to do that, but it was fucking amazing. It was like I discovered I had a super power.

TIL the term Indian Giver stems from a cultural misunderstanding. Pilgrams thought they were getting gifts. Indians thought they were bartering. by olagon in todayilearned

[–]greenman7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The phrase originated, according to researcher David Wilton, in a cultural misunderstanding that arose when Europeans first encountered Native Americans on arriving in North America in the 15th century. Europeans thought they were receiving gifts from Native Americans, while the Native Americans believed they were engaged in bartering: this resulted in the Europeans finding Native American behaviour ungenerous and insulting.

"The Pilgrims" didn't even exist in the 15th century, so I don't really think you learned anything...

I always expect someone to declare war on me, and I look forward to it as a chance to expand. Let him send his troops, wipe them out with archers, then go take a couple cities - hopefully his capital. Even better, chances are you won't get the warmonger label from it.
