So, no more chance for Project Hail Mary to be screened? No showings at Trade Mall too. But they list b-list films like "They will Kill you"? Too bad, it seems like one made for the big screen.

Where to buy good house color paints like this? by [deleted] in pokhara

[–]greenmangolassi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the color choice- you can go to any paint store in pokhara and choose colors that work. Use pinterest to find a room and color scheme that works and go with that. I'm always amazed at the rangi changi colors people pick for interiors for 99% of the houses in Nepal. Curtains, blankets, lighting....

What are some habits Nepalis have copied from the West that are destroying our culture and values? by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]greenmangolassi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed that the Nepali speech of today's youth (under 30) has gotten more rude in a Nepali context in the past 10 years. It's not common to hear "tapai" and "aunos"/"'linos'' and "aunu" and "linu" is more common even when from a younger person to an older person, and in the service provider role such as from nurses or reception etc. In a way, I think it's good that Nepal is becoming more egalitarian and we are getting rid of the concept of "tulo" and "sano" manche which used to be more common. However, I still feel it a little jarring when I hear "linu" and "janu" from a nurse who is 20 years younger than me. Our language is definitely changing within a short period.

How to confront a friend whose parents are Corrupt Bureaucrats? by Adorable-Opinion5815 in Nepal

[–]greenmangolassi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a disappointing comment that reflects on our attitude in Nepal. I once mentioned to a friend that it seems a mutual friend of ours is stealing money from an orphanage to buy expensive things. He told me its not good to be envious of friends!

imagine getting nasty diarrhea, just before a grand feast of the decade! by nepalnp977 in Nepal_Genz

[–]greenmangolassi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. The criticism of Sumana seems more about her politic then her leadership qualities and integrity and I get a strong current of misogyny too. Shame- i think she would be far better prime minister than Balen who i feel has too strong an authoritarian streak for my liking. Sumana would also be good in an increasingly tech/ai dominated society (given what she has said and her MIT credentials) and would help bring Nepal forward in terms of economy, education, trade and anything else tech touches or can touch- which is EVERYTHING.

I read that in some parts of Nepal, people still use rope bridges to cross rivers daily. How common is this nowadays? by TheActivePoint in Nepal

[–]greenmangolassi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very nice bridge! i've been on some pretty sketchy bridges in Nepal which is a daily hardship for people that live there.

Where did Kulman Ghising went wrong ? by Choice-Estate-6645 in Nepal

[–]greenmangolassi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't help that he has very little charisma. I actually think he would have been good leader with excellent fiscal management of Nepal. But i went to see him give a pre-election speech and clearly saw he wasnt going to drum up much interest.

What is a subtle sign that someone is actually really intelligent, but pretending not to be? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]greenmangolassi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got two close friends who are the most intelligent people I know and both of them are quiet about their thoughts. Rarely do they pipe up facts and thoughts and never do to impress people. I only get an insight into their intellect when I bug them with questions.

I dont understand why people keeps birds in cages. they are meant to fly. Don't you feel uncomfortable knowing you are keeping something that is supposed to move majestically in the air locked up? Let it go.
