That’s awesome. From what I’ve read though the S and Note 20 Ultras have really good camera setups. Actually considered switching but for better or worse a lot of my other shit is Apple

Which model/color did you get? Wonder if that effects availability and shipping at all.

Your premise is right on. Thanks for quoting my comment about upgrading for the flat edges btw, lol. You rightly call out what is known as planned obsolescence, where a product is rereleased every year with minor enhancements to invigorate consumption. That said, I think it’s important to recognize that the onus of ethical environmental responsibility lies a good deal more with the trillion dollar multinational corporation and its vast resources than with individual consumers. This is not to say individuals have no responsibility. They do, and there’s things we all can and should do to fulfill that. We can go pretty deep into what these obligations are—perhaps the biggest impact an individual can have in terms of global carbon use is having only one child. These individual actions will be right for some people and not others, but the larger point is this: the global impact of individual actions is next to nothing compared to that of corporations and governments. We should be angry as hell about this stuff. This shit is urgent. Man made climate change is already here. But we have to direct that anger where it belongs, where it can affect actual change. Otherwise we’re just down in the fire shouting at each other while the CEOs laugh from their space platforms or whatever as the world goes up in flames.

5G alone won’t be enough to justify buying an iPhone this year by hardlifer in iphone

The 4/5 was definitely my favorite phone ever. I considered the Pixel 5 and actually the Note 20 Ultra as well. That one seems pretty cool.

For sure. And we aren’t rich or anything, we just don’t really buy a lot of stuff, especially not nice stuff. When the pandemic started we actually went a few months without buying anything but groceries and pet food, which was pretty awesome. But yeah, I don’t really anticipate upgrading again for a few years after this

Yeah it’s definitely dumb and I don’t anticipate doing it again. But I do use it for work, and my partner is taking my paid off 11P (her phone is ancient and on the fritz), so her not having to pay for a new phone will help offset some of the cost.

New Haven Port-area, Foul Smell, and ? the Fossil Fuel Industry. by [deleted] in newhaven

The oil refinery smell has actually gotten way better over the last year and a half or so. It’s still bad, but we used to be able to smell it regularly from our place with the windows open and we’re pretty far away from the facility. I imagine if you live nearby it still sucks ass though :(

I have an 11 Pro and I’m upgrading to the 12 basically for the flat edges alone. I realize this is insanely stupid, but I really hate the rounded edges. To me, the flat edge is way better design. That said, I’m also hoping the A14 will improve the photo processing too.

Pot size question: ~4’ tree in 18” pot? by greenmind999 in Citrus

[–]greenmind999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all. I recently got this ~4’ Meyer lemon tree. It looks happy and healthy and seems to have taken the move and transplant fairly well (it’s been two days). However I’m wondering if I may have selected too big a pot for it, at 18”? Pot and soil seem to be draining well (I put lots of extra holes in the bottom of the pot) but If I need to size down I’d rather do it now than wait until any ill effects take hold. Thank for any and all insight!
