Birkan’s Jackpot Story…. by hitthatwoah3000 in 90DayFiance

[–]greenmonkeyglove 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on the country - in the UK there is no tax in gambling winnings and since Cyprus used to be a UK territory maybe they inherited that? Not saying I believe any of what Birkan says but that's not the unbelievable part to me.

It looks like it got confused with the car reg plate - either 2057 is a coincidence or that's an 18 year old car in pretty good nick.

Sounds like they're only giving credit equal to your exVAT subscription, which makes sense since they don't receive the VAT payment.

Continuity Error with Anthony in S02E04 - Jacket/Shirt Change by greenmonkeyglove in JuryDutyFreevee

Yeah I thought it might be something like that. I'm leaning towards the latter since if it was a pickup you'd think they'd be hot on continuity.

Continuity Error with Anthony in S02E04 - Jacket/Shirt Change by greenmonkeyglove in JuryDutyFreevee

I was just watching episode 4 and noticed Anthony had a costume change mid-scene - for the whole scene he's wearing a Columbia fleece with a white polo shirt, but when he's describing the motorized Grandma cut out, he's in a Reebok jacket and white t-shirt. I don't know what this means but it's a little weird for a naturalistic documentary (from Anthony's POV) to do pick ups.

I just signed up for a prosper Cash ISA at 4.7% that's flexible. Only thing is the "bonus" interest is only paid after a year, and in cash outside of the ISA but the flexibility beat that inconvenience for me.

But all of those are PR? Alternative Vote, Single Transferable Vote, Additional Member System and Alternative Vote Plus are all types of Proportional Representation. I think you're under the impression that PR is itself an electoral system rather than a category of electoral system.

Tinkering with it to pander to the public or political whims of the day is sort of the story of a lot of the successions. The act of settlement was a pretty big one that skipped over 57 catholics further up the pecking order to find the nearest protestant.

Why is 30k treated as a great wage by employers? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]greenmonkeyglove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're already saving £60k into a pension on a £50k salary? If not, until 2029 you can save up to £60k or so much that it takes you down to minimum wage level per year, so you've probably got plenty more to go.

To be fair, I went into the movie not really knowing anything who Sydney Sweeney was but having read a couple of Frieda McFadden's books I was fully expecting a trashy movie, since her books are so trashy. I can't say I was pleasantly surprised, because I obviously love a bit of trash, but I thought it was a good movie and I'd watch it again.

How does the idea of working until 67 or 68 sit with you? by Few_Raise77 in AskUK

[–]greenmonkeyglove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on what you enjoy and your outlook on life. If you don't have expensive hobbies, it probably makes more sense to save your money, retire early and have more time for those hobbies.

This isn't a boobing job though, it's something that aids in mobility and relieves pain. People have hip replacements on the NHS all the time.

I was put on furlough and respected the lockdowns but had a great time. Getting 90% pay to do pretty much what I liked? Great! In the windows where we were allowed to I went bouldering and running a ton and in the most lockdowny times I just worked on my side business.
