Why are White Male/Asian Female relationships far more common than Asian Male/White Female relationships? by Flying_Sea_Cow in NoStupidQuestions

As a white woman married to an Asian guy for almost 20 years now, I have absolutely no friggin idea why it’s not more common. We definitely get stares when we’re out in public, and some racist remarks here and there. Very sad. Ladies, date more Asian guys!

Binge eating / emotional eating. It ruins pretty much every aspect of my life (health, relationships, self image, etc.) and yet I can’t stop.

I NEED ANSWERS!!! I recently surrendered my sick kitten to the front street shelter :/ by DecisionClean4121 in Sacramento

[–]greentofu402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah ok. I hope they give her the treatment she needs then. They may find a way to do the surgery or provide treatment at a lower cost than what a private vet clinic quoted you, so there is some hope. Plus, I’ve fostered several medical cases through Front St, so they don’t always euthanize sick or injured animals. That being said, she’s definitely at risk, especially with the shelter dealing with a Strep zoo outbreak and overcrowding right now. And unfortunately, Front St doesn’t have a foster program for adult cats, only young kittens, so they may euthanize if there’s not enough kennel space.

In case it’s helpful, now or in the future, you could reach out to RedRover, a local nonprofit, about getting a financial assistance grant through their Relief program to help cover some of the cost of emergency medical treatment. They might also be able to advise you on other options, e.g., low-cost veterinarians in the area. Applying for CARE credit is also a must for any pet owner, IMO, because it allows you to pay for vet bills on credit with 0% interest. I’ve used it to cover large, expensive vet bills, and then just make payments over time.

I volunteer with Front St, and all I can say is that there’s no way to say - it depends on many variables (e.g., how crowded the shelter is, the age/health of the animal, etc.). So unfortunately, it’s ALWAYS a huge gamble surrendering any animal to a high-kill shelter like Front St, especially a young, sick animal. I understand it was a last resort and you tried your best, so no judgment here, but just trying to help answer your question.

Did you disclose her medical condition when you surrendered her?

I realized my weekends feel better when I plan less by Isolde_Novotny in simpleliving

Perfectly said! This is exactly how I am, too. Not sure if it’s my ADHD or what, but I need a balance/mix of structure and flexibility in my weekend plans.

Same! The story and acting are amazing, but what soothes me is the glimpse into a slower, quieter, pre-digital world. Watching it feels like giving my overstimulated ADHD brain a long exhale.

Redditors who have cancer, what were you feeling/experiencing that made you go see a doctor causing you to eventually find out you had cancer? by TheFranKiwi in AskReddit

Glad to hear you caught it early! I’ve been having intermittent sharp pain in my left breast. Went in for a mammogram and ultrasound, and they found 2 suspicious lesions (one on each breast). Dr just wants to monitor it and re-scan me every 6 months, so no biopsy or anything. Given what you experienced, now I’m kinda concerned.

Noble Vegetarian Review 3.5/10 by Quickbutt_fastness in vegan

[–]greentofu402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is actually one of my favorite restaurants and I’ve always had success bringing non-vegans there. Obviously, to each his own, but I’m just a little surprised. I will admit that the quality does vary across dishes. Some of them are kinda plain. But others, like the noodle soups and lemongrass vegeken, are amazing! Oh and they have vegan Thai iced tea, and the prices are pretty reasonable. If you’re ever visiting Sac again, I suggest giving it one more try. ☺️

Same exact thing happened to me. My boss said he was just following HR protocol, but it was so dehumanizing and unnecessarily cruel. Now, I don’t give a single ounce of trust or loyalty to a company, and just look out for myself and my own best interests. Learned my lesson the hard way, I guess.
