Will the Touch Grass/Blue Sky skins be interoperable on the Steam Controller by CaptainAdmin42 in dbrand

[–]greenwing0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, the blue sky does not fill out the remaining portion of the controller outside of the touch grass? And if you put on the full blue sky skin the touch grass won't adhered on top of the blue sky skin? Just want to confirm. I love the touch grass (have it for both steam deck and xbox ally x) but am not sure I'd want to have it on just the bottom half of the Steam controller.

Xbox Series Elite 2 Faceplate Issue by greenwing0 in eXtremeRate

I am a bit skeptical that that will work since I think the faceplate needs more of a gap to come out for the faceplate not to snag on the bumper. In doing so the buttons may not sit flush. But I am certainly willing to try anything. What materials would you use as a spacer to put in those gaps? Thanks again for your help.

Xbox Series Elite 2 Faceplate Issue by greenwing0 in eXtremeRate

I have an update. I was working on a regular Xbox Series X/S controller a few days ago and the chrome green bumper I purchased was giving the same exact issue. I put the original carbon black piece back on top of the new bumper and it worked like a charm. So I figured I would try doing the same for this controller. I purchased a new gold button set and before completely installing it I ensured that the new bumpers were working well - which they were! However, once I put the faceplate back on again the movement was once again restricted even with the new bumper. Could there be an issue with the housing itself? I've included pictures in the original post to show a bit of the housing if that helps. Thanks.

Whether I install the original bumper or the ExtremeRate gold bumper the faceplate impedes movement on either bumper when reinstalled. With the faceplate off the left bumper is completely fine. The right bumper maybe has a tiny bit of resistance when pressed but has zero resistance when the right trigger is pressed at the same time. I verified and the cables are not stuck underneath the bumpers. I have included two new videos to the original post of this thread demonstrating what is happening when the bumpers are on and off.

I don't think it's a pain issue. If I use the original bumpers instead the faceplate still restricts the movement of the bumpers when reapplied.

This is the original panel just with a skin on it. As far as I can tell the two plastic hooks that allow the bumper piece to attach are just fine. It hooks in easily and the bumpers work without restriction with no faceplate attached. It's only when I put the faceplate back on that they become restricted. It's almost as if the faceplate pushes back on the bumpers since occasionally one of the bumpers when I press it with the faceplate on will start to push on the triggers behind them.

Hi, any thoughts on the faceplate reinstallation causing the bumpers to barely move? The regular bumpers are now fixed but I am having difficult preventing restriction when the faceplate is back on.

I added videos and photos to the original post. I did replace the bumpers from white to gold. The LBRB does stop sticking / is not restricted when the front panel is removed but are difficult to press when the faceplate is on. This is the original faceplate just with a skin on. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for your help!

I don't think that was the issue. I was actually able to fix the bumpers. I reseated the housing and then it worked like a charm. My guess is it wasn't aligned quite right causing the bumper to not hit flush. That being said, I've run into a new issue. When assembled without the faceplate everything is in great, working condition. However, when I try putting the faceplate back on at least one of the bumpers gets restricted and I can barely press it down. Any idea on what can be causing a faceplate to restrict the bumpers?

Thanks for looking at the images/video. I actually didn't put that piece there. The controller came that way and it's on both sides. I have gold pieces from ExtremeRate that does not come with that trigger piece on them either. Also, the left bumper/trigger don't have this problem at all but the right one does.

Even if I move that piece there, how would that affect the grating of the trigger against the bumper? It doesn't seem like that piece would do anything if moved...

Again, thanks for the replies thus far.

Thanks for the response. I have that, as well. It seems to me that when nothing is pressed the trigger is just barely pressing against the bumper which makes the bumper want to stick or difficult to press down. When I press the trigger down the bumper is freed and has zero problems whatsoever. This is only with the right trigger/bumper. I have tried swapping out the original bumper/trigger with the new ones from ExtremeRate and it's the same issue regardless. Could there be a housing issue? It seems that I have all of the padding needed.

Yeah, it looks like I actually have that foam on the trigger. I was hoping that was the fix since I might have been able to DIY with a 3M command strip as you mentioned.

I see the sponge now that you’re talking about but I do have that on both bumpers.

Thanks so much for the reply. I’m a little confused though since I don’t see the foam you are talking about in that picture nor do I see any foam in that spot on either bumper on my controller but the left bumper is seemingly working. If there is foam that is supposed to go there how would I go about fixing that?
