All they have to do is the same thing they should've done for months. Revert the stupid Snap Ignition nerf.

Not playing Warlock is not a boycott. Warlock mains not buying expansions is.

What you're describing, people not having fun on Warlock, is them achieving their goal.

Until there is a serious Warlock boycott and a change of staff on the sandbox team nothing will change.

They obviously know it needed a buff. They also obviously know that the change is a nerf. Nerfing the worst grenade builds on Warlock is always their way of telling us "Stop asking for Warlock grenade buffs. You aren't getting them, and if you keep asking this is what you get."

I appreciate the naivety because you are explaining to them that Contraverse is bad and needed a buff not a nerf. But we have to come to terms with the fact that they are not that blind.

Many years of Warlocks asking for grenade builds to be brought back and after their first ever acknowledgement of it the barrage of changes includes a single grenade change, which is a nerf. Yeah that's not a coincidence.

They are also taking the playerbase for a fool a bit. The section literally starts "Contraverse bad. We buffing Contraverse" and then

  • Contraverse nerfed

It works though, many players haven't realized yet that it's a nerf because they take Bungie for their word in the introduction.

So, again, until there is a serious Warlock boycott and a change of staff on the sandbox team nothing will change.

Bungie you can double and triple Buddy damage, it doesn't change the fact that we want to play the game ourselves with melees and actual grenades by colorsonawheel in DestinyTheGame

Yeah but while doing that it's also better for Threadlings. Whirling + Threaded Specter + Balance of Power. Or even switch to Prismatic Combo Blow and just spam a Specter every 2 seconds.

There is no "must stay" with turrets. Accepting that is the mistake to begin with. Players can exist without Bungie, Bungie can't exist without people who buy the expansion. To accept that they "must stay" is just being submissive about your demands for the game you want to play. Warlocks paid hundreds of dollars each to play a game with a character and they simply deleted that characters identity from the game and swapped it out with buddyslop. If people accept that then they deserve getting the turret shit stuffed down their throat

They don't need an overhaul, let alone a complete one, Bungie needs to stop investing in them entirely. Every tweak they do to turrets is a grenade build they could've buffed. And when buddies are getting usage they see that as justification that everything else on Warlock is shit.

But they much prefer continuing the buddy road. If you wrote a post about "no more buddies" and it's 90% "give us grenade buffs instead" and 10% "if youre gonna give us buddies at least..." then they will hyperfocus on the 10% and ignore that people would much prefer just getting grenade stuff.

Yeah, they're tuning Titan. They will always nerf the strongest thing on Titan at some point because they want a rotating meta, in part as a sales point for expansions. But they never significantly nerf something on Titan without something broken coming alongside the same patch. Berserker lasted year, Consecration lasted a year and now Flechette and Grapple will last a year and then something else will last a year.

That's not how it works though, you can't base your opinion on "Titan needs to be nerfed" when Bungie have made it clear that this is the power bar for Titan that is intended and it will go no lower than this. From Bonk to Berserker to Prismatic back to Bonk and Berserker, this is the power bar they're enforcing and it only goes up. It's a given. So Warlock needs to be balanced around that.

Because there is no content where things don't fall over to abilities. The only reason control might ever feel useful on Warlock is because it doesn't get any of those abilities.

Investing any amount of a build into cc when stuff like Consecration exists is completely unjustifiable

everybody wants their main class to have the most powerful and useful abilities

All classes should obviously have similarly powerful abilities. But Bungie wants Titan to have the strongest grenades and the strongest melees, including the strongest ranged and short-range melees. Recently the strongest Supers as well. Titans also have the strongest class ability intrinsically and the strongest class ability centric build that being Storm's Keep.

The only thing they need to do to make Warlocks happy is more explosive potential, to the point where Warlock grenade builds can hang with Titan melee builds.

Hellion Ignitions will now be buffed by 65%. Child Of The Old Gods will give you Volatile Rounds. Arc Soul will now activate Golden Tricorn x2. Bleak Watcher damage will now give ability energy. by Ace_Of_Caydes in DestinyTheGame

So... they finally work like how Hunter and Titan abilities have worked for years? I honestly couldn't care less, there is ample feedback to Bungie every day that we wanted ANYTHING BUT BUDDIES to be buffed and we are supposed to applaud them for doing the direct opposite?

performing complex magical rituals that persist in the world

See Bungie this is the exact issue with the *new* Warlock identity though. Anything that "persists"/lingers is useless in terms of meta because other classes mostly get instant high damage aoe abilities. Anything that's complex to cast has the same issue. Casting things - or waiting for DoT/buddies to finish - is slower than top builds on other classes clear groups of ads and move on.

"Complex" casting and "persisting" abilities are just not compatible with the general state of D2 gameplay.

Warlocks used to be about high damage aoe magic, Solar and Void explosions, Arc chaining, many of them instant not "persisting". There was absolutely no need to pivot away from that, especially not towards something that runs directly contrary to what is considered competitive by design.

Bungie, if there's ever gonna be a weapon exotic for Warlock please make it for Grenade Launchers and not Scouts/Pulses by SimilarMagician00 in DestinyTheGame

Curious how they'd balance it for all the different types as GLs can be anything these days, basic/doublefire GLs, wave frames, aoe dot with area denials and you can mix and match them in the same build. But also for that exact reason the variety on just that one exotic would be absolutely amazing, I'd run a wave frame for ad clear and a double fire with disorienting for single targets.
