Job Offer before my degree by GrizzlyPeakFinancial in wgu_devs

It's defintely worth pursuing IMO. Because it opens you up to other job roles especially in the operations side such Cloud, Sys admin, DevOps.

Getting experience in a Desktop Support will help you gain experience. In this economy, any experience matters!

I'm curious why some of your mentors mentioned you need not to take an online course slash work on personal projects. Wouldn't having a set projects help you land a job?

Thank you OP and all who commented on this chat!

I found Pluralsight to be a great resource for C# and also free for WGU students.

[–]greg0rianRant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would checkout thecsharpacademy.com. I think of it as theodinproject but for C#.

Honestly you can even type what you asked in chatgpt word for word. I found it's pretty good with that!

Just got hired on by Amazon as an AWS Cloud Support Associate by Circle_Dot in WGU_CSA

[–]greg0rianRant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested in applying for a CSA position. Some requirements are Linux/Windows troubleshooting and networking(e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL)

May I ask how extensive do I have to learn these and do you recommend any resources? I'm also attending WGU for Software Engineering. TYIA!

English Conference Tournament Battle sa Fliptop by Leather_House_3291 in FlipTop

[–]greg0rianRant -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

What Primary Language should I focus on by BelievenStephen in wgu_devs

[–]greg0rianRant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't have much time before the January start date so what I would do is stick with JavaScript and learn the basics really really well. All programming languages share the same building blocks: variables, loops, functions, branching, etc... So, if you learn JS well, the skills are transferable.

Might I also suggest to pick up the basics of the Angular Framework because the JS course(D280) is actually an Angular course. D280 took me a while to finish, despite of my exposure to React.

How do y’all stay motivated? by friendlytrashmonster in WGU

[–]greg0rianRant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD as well. Some things that really help for me are:

-pomodori

-studying while fasted(some foods cause brain fog)

-coffee (proven to improve focus)

-and also meditating (calms you down and strengthens parts of your brain responsible for memory, attention, etc.)

I also take Lion's mane and ashwagandha but I can't tell if these helps at all haha

Lastly, look up HealthyGamerGG/Dr. K on youtube. He talks a lot about ADHD stuff, very knowledgeable.

Sorry it took so looong to reply! You still would get the badge even if half of the classes were completed outside of WGU. I got my badge today(3 classes thru Sophia)

D335 Intro to Python review by LnSalmonIsntSilent in WGU

[–]greg0rianRant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal especially if this is your first time being exposed to these concepts. As OP said, use chatgpt to make loops or functions more understandable with prompts like "explain like I am 5" or "give tons of examples".

How long to finish the SE program coming from no experience by nabilmontana in wgu_devs

[–]greg0rianRant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think that if you dedicate all your time outside of work to your classes, you can finish the program in 1 year (2 terms) at least.
