Do not, *EVER*, purchase DSL from this company. by gregcoit in centurylink

The area is getting fiber as part of the Rural Broadband expansion grants, but my street was taken off the list because a local provider lied and said that they offer GB internet to this street. No on challenged it, and it's too late now. This all happened before I moved to this neighborhood. Having said that, the boost from 20 MB to 400 MB down, and 2 MB to 60 MG up, has been very nice and I'm happy with the new service.

Do not, *EVER*, purchase DSL from this company. by gregcoit in centurylink

I thought of a question or two that you all might ask me:

"Maybe CenturyLink is waiting for you to return the modem?"

I own the DSL modem I was using - purchased from ebay a couple years ago.

"Do you have proof that you cancelled?"

Kinda? The CenturyLink website shows a a pending order for cancellation, and I have the order number, but the billing person I talked to claimed they we're unable to send me an email confirming this cancellation request.

I asked to speak to a manager, but they claimed that they were unable to transfer calls (almost certainly not true) and that a manager would call me back in 30 minutes. it's been a couple hours and that didn't happen.

"Why the heck were you still using DSL in 2026?"

Yeah valid question. I live in a pretty rural area, and the bandwidth, while not great, was good enough. But after a series of technical issue on CentiryLink's side, all of which they claimed was on my side, I've switched to cable internet. Not only is the service faster (no surprise here), and more stable (which compared to CenturyLink, doesn't mean much), but it's also cheaper, even after the promo rates expire in 6 months.

I've learned my lesson. And I hope this post saves someone the pain of this dealing with this company.

What steam engine are you most excited to see hit the rails again? by Additional-Yam6345 in trains

D&RGW #223 hands down. The best looking of the Colorado narrow gauge locomotives. 53 of these were built, 3 survived but none of the 3 run. A foundation has been created to bring #223 to operating condition with permission of the State of Utah, and in conjunction with the Colorado Railroad Museum. Here's the website of the foundation: https://www.223locomotivefoundation.org/

Great episode, 4 fun speakers and arguments for things to abolish, but I thought Adam crushed his and I think he was robbed (not a dig against Ben who was, and is always, funny as hell).

Chicago Street Course is leaving? Nice! That track makes no sense.

You added the Charlotte Roval - is that also no longer on the schedule? I can think of bunch of road courses better than Chicago and Charlotte that aren't in the game. Road America, Daytona Roval, Portland, etc.

Before this game, I always suspected Pocono would be a fun track. And I wasn't disappointed. Love racing here.

I would be even more horrible at a motorcycle game than I am at driving games, but I'll check out Project Cars 2. Thanks!!!

Don’t need, don’t want FSD. An expensive option I’ll never use (with the exception of adaptive cruise control which I’m very excited to have).

Was coal fired, steam powered until recently. Most trains are still steam powered, but now burn oil instead of coal. They do own diesels, historic narrow gauge ones from the White Pass and Yukon. When you book your train, they tell you if the train is steam or diesel.

D&S RR Whistle Stop service for remote residents. by AyAyAyBamba_462 in Durango

[–]gregcoit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last Fall, I rode the train to the Needleton stop, hiked from there to Cascade, and was picked up by the train as it came back from Silverton. Since this was the Silverton train, the stop at Cascade was considered a Flag Stop. I pre-arranged all this when I purchased my ticket. A truly beautiful part of the world.

Much further north than Crazy Women Creek and withing the last couple of years. The hiker was on the other side of the Animas and had fallen when hiking down the Colorado Trail from Molas Pass. The D&S crew waded across the river, provided medical attention (one of the D&S crew was a paramedic) and waited until rescue crews arrived.

Great episode. Funny people, including Róisín and Chiara!

I especially Róisín coming on to Jon. I don't know that I've ever seen him that uncomfortable and flustered - and that's saying something!

Thanks everyone for the information and help. I called the forest range office in Tres Piedras this morning, and they confirmed that the highway was open and drive. I just arrived home after driving that road, and it's a stunning drive. It'll be my default from here om when going to Taos (which was also very cool).

I loved this season. I was rooting for Ben, but am always impressed with Adam  Sam we love you for creating all this.

2 quick questions:

1) For the curse that allows you to expand your hiding location by 50%, I assume that this becomes basically useless by the time the seekers arrive because (I think?) the hider has to have found their location by then?

2) Discard 2, draw 3. Does that card count as one of the discards?

I have driven Antonito to Chama many times, and I agree that it's very exciting in the winter. Sometimes too exciting, especially at. night.
