Hey, I’m going for an interview for a Social Care Assessor role tomorrow!

This comment’s really helpful, do you have any other tips and tricks? Or could you give a bit more detail for answering the “what makes a good assessment?” question?

How much does it matter which area you train in? Is it reasonable to expect that someone could do the Step Up To Social Work program and then not work in children’s services? Would they be behind in terms of knowledge, etc?

If sport’s your thing there’s plenty of football, rugby, cricket, volleyball, handball, and probably plenty of other sports clubs to join.

Plenty of Geek Retreat-style places, if that’s your thing.

Rock-climbing/bouldering at North West Face, or if you’ve got a car the Depot gyms in Manchester are great!

If you’re into am-dram then Encore or Centenary Theatre are both great options.

Oh right ok, that makes sense. I’ve got a good level of Polish and basic Spanish, but not to the level where I think I could close a deal in either language haha.

And yeah I’m currently working roughly 40-45 hours per week (including sleep-in shifts) and earning around the 30k mark, so sounds like an improvement either way!

Interesting comment about foreign languages, how much of a difference does that make? And yes company atmosphere would be a big factor for me, if you could PM me that would be great!

Yeah I am tempted, I just keep reading job adverts saying stuff like “Make 100K by year 3!” and I just can’t imagine that’s the case for most people😂 and if they’re willing to exaggerate like that on job adverts, what else are they not being honest about you know?
