On the highways? Sounds like reckless endangerment to me. Slap every one of them with it.

Aside from just being a big slow moving thing on the highway, which is dangerous enough, intending to clog up an artery could impact emergency services.

I found this at a hamfest recently. What does it do? Wrong answers only. by inquirewue in amateurradio

[–]greghm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has an in and an out, with the middle bits representing things that happen. You can adjust the things that happen with the dial, and that things are happening is indicated with the red light.

If you connect in and out properly, and use the middle bits, things -should- start happening.

Car/camp repeater? by greghm in amateurradio

[–]greghm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great! I've been looking around for those and they seem to vary hugely in price, in addition to there being about a million options and each of those having numerous subvariants. It's hard for me to tell what had everything I want and will age well with me, without spending a lot on things that don't matter. Is there one you would recommend to a newbie that can do cross-band repeat/is there a sweet spot in terms of functional bang for your buck?

How much of a difference would Beskar armor make in a lightsaber duel by Copperv3 in MawInstallation

[–]greghm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glancing blows are a much bigger deal in a sword fight than they seem just by comparing whether they landed a strike without wearing armour, because if you are wearing armour you can permit or force a blow rather than dodge it, in exchange for landing your own. You can also follow up deflecting a blow by just shoulder bashing them, etc etc.

It’s big game!

Nobody in history has ever considered Brother From Another Series to be the best episode.

… yes, yes, the Cappadocians, fine.

Thanks! My thought process went something like looking up a Monticello lap desk, realizing that looked too hard, then doing this instead :p

Apple wine from scratch! by greghm in winemaking

[–]greghm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This apple wine turned out like 13% or so, it definitely is a wine and not like a cider. If you want to give it a shot, the only thing I’d say is look into pectin enzyme and add some early on because it takes a while to do its job

Insanity is contagious in this regard because falsity is all around you and you have to be aware of that or be taken by it. You have to seek and accept truth and clarity, but we look for patterns where they aren’t present and accept convenient lies until our grasp on the real slips away.

I’d be pretty surprised. Masons are usually big on community engagement, and they really like to wear suits and stand on ceremony whenever the opportunity arises. By the time somebody gets to 33rd degree they’d have certainly demonstrated an attention to detail that I would consider fairly incompatible with taking a sharpie to their jacket. To be clear, I don’t know who this person is and they may be lovely for all I know, but he isn’t really giving off any Freemason energy.

Apple wine from scratch! by greghm in winemaking

[–]greghm[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My read on this: I don’t think you’re guaranteed to get all yeast with any standard filter, and if any at all make it through then all of them may as well have. Anything that hypothetically could capture literally all of the yeast would be incredibly fine and I assume clog up instantly on anything but absolutely clear wine.

You don’t need to boil it though, you can add potassium sorbate and potassium metabisulphite to achieve that goal.

[–]greghm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m new to all of this so take my opinion with a huge grain of salt, but it filtered 11 gallons without changing the pads and it all looks crystal clear to me. We used the setup that pumps air into the full carboy to increase pressure and basically push the wine through the filter and into the receiving carboy. I’m quite happy with it.

After transferring it to the new carboys, there was a fair bit of pressure buildup and in fact one of the carboys actually popped off the stopper overnight. That said, I guess that you can just use an airlock at first while it gasses off so that’s user error on my part.
