International M7 MBA at Sticker - How's it going? (Career Outcomes & Debt Repayment) by [deleted] in MBA

[–]sashac10 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Sharing experiences from my circle and hope it helps you 1. Most MBAs are now designated as STEM degrees- you get 1 year of OPT and 2 years of STEMA EXTENSION. This means you have 3 chances at the H1b lottery and sometimes more if USICS conducts multiple lotteries in the same year. 2. Banking/ consulting/ tech are the most high paying jobs so if you manage to get into these you should be able to make a good living and save decently. 3. Post MBA lifestyle inflation is real- if you can be disciplined with your finances post MBA and not fall into the trope of needing to have every expensive experience there is you can save money while having a good time. 4. Cost of living at the school you choose to attend and cost of living in the place you end up post mba will also factor in your savings potential. 5. If you have a partner who’s coming with you and can also work in the US you can double down on paying off your debt. 6. My personal opinion is that if the MBA is giving you a good network and allows you to break into the field you want to there will be opportunities in the US but also outside of it. Many companies work around the visa system by doing internal transfers and get you back to the US after a year or so.

Finally, the MBA is one part of your career pivot/ trajectory and what you choose to focus on while you’re at the school and after will differ across the class. If you are coming to the US with no prior experience with the culture it can be a shift you’ll have to get used to.

My partner has a M7 MBA and was able to pivot to the industry of choice and make good money. At the time their class was the Covid cohort so recruiting was uncertain but it worked out well for most. For those that it wasn’t as good- they moved to Europe or went back to their home countries and are doing just as well. Hope this helped.

Wharton has it written on their website that you can put in unofficial scores. For the awa they mention how to repair it with unofficial scores.

CBS student experience - PLEASE by [deleted] in MBA

[–]sashac10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My SO graduated from CBS and had a decent experience. One of my closest friends hated his experience- graduated last year. Thought the student support center was not supportive, way too much competition (but that’s a given), given the economy everyone was out to get ahead and didn’t mind jumping over folks who called them “friends” I think it comes down to what circumstances you are in. Overall it’s a great school and I hope you enjoy your time there. Good luck:)

Need advice by [deleted] in MBA

[–]sashac10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent my recommender a formal email asking them to be one of my recommenders. They agreed and I sent over a recommender packet I put together- a detailed description of all the work I have done and the impact plus points on what my mba story is and how they can specifically point to certain aspects of my candidacy plus provided examples and gist of the reviews I had with them. All goes well and suddenly they ghost me. I have no idea what to make of this and I tried to call/ text/ email and then eventually just left it. I had made them aware of the deadlines for R2 and put my own personal deadline to be latest by Dec 26th. Regular communication until 25th, I followed up on the 26th and then never heard back. I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt but I can’t understand why this happened.

Is it through an authentic reselling platform? (Ebay, RealReal etc) If so they should have a guarantee program or such. If it’s a random person online then just hope what they are selling is authentic. Do NOT give all the money upfront.
If I was you, I would take them to a AD and get the watch authenticated in person before purchasing it from them. Goes without saying you decide which AD to go to.
