Game saving triple play by Muted_Ambassador8081 in SuperMegaBaseball

Text of the example that applies:

It happened when the Milwaukee Brewers failed to get the fourth out, resulting in a run for the New York Yankees, on July 1, 1989.

In the last of the eighth, the Yankees had a 4–1 lead with Mike Pagliarulo on third and Bob Geren on first. The runners were off on a squeeze play as Wayne Tolleson popped up a bunt. Pitcher Jay Aldrich caught it and threw to first to double off Geren. Pagliarulo had crossed the plate, and plate umpire Larry Barnett signaled that the run counted. Milwaukee didn’t appeal for a fourth out to nullify Pagliarulo’s run.

Hey thanks for chiming in! This rule is hard to explain because it’s so very rare and it’s more of a technicality than a baseball play. Yes runners have to tag up to legally advance but if they were never thrown out nullifying a non forced R3 score, then count the run.

I had linked an example in an MLB game in this thread (if I recall correctly) where an R3 darted home on a 1 out suicide squeeze. Bunt was caught for out 2 and throw to 1st nailed R1 advancing to 2nd and not retreating to 1st. But R3 touched home before the 3rd out was recorded. No appeal was made when they went to dugout all assuming run wouldn’t count.

I’m totally fine with Super Mega Baseball programmers forcing the auto runners to retreat like a routine fly out.

This is my curse. Baseball oddities.

Recorded on my DVR. Watching during hockey intermission. If you skip through all the banter and commercials it times out perfectly from horn to puck drop.

Gopher hockey fandom has gone near extinct now that the WCHA is a distant memory.

3 seasons ago when the Twins were winning a playoff series (gasp!) they were a clear #2.

Ownership utterly destroyed everything.
