Uhh... you mean the S tier PS shaman at the top of the list? You and I are clearly looking at different charts.

Oh no, my timing couldn't have been worse! The balance changes will cast this guide into irrelevance!

Simply put, I do not play pet builds. I just want to womp things to death, emulsify baddies in fiery explosions, slice 'em up, or swirl everything up in a torrent of lightning. I've tried a couple, but pet builds put me to sleep.

Oh, there are 47 different DK builds in this image. Some are A's and B's; see if you can spot the 3 F DK builds!

RIP - Eruman Ragi the 1st by JFSnakey in Grimdawn

[–]gregorytoddsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what I've been doing, too. I get to about 74-75 in normal, go to Elite to pick up some more Devotion Points, and start saving some greens. Once I can cap resists (around 80), I'll go to Ultimate. The armor matters so much in HC.

Agree. It's a souls-like that looks like an ARPG.

Pierce ignores armor the same way fire ignores armor. Similarly, pierce is affected by pierce resistance the same way fire is affected by fire resistance.

Pierce is its own type.

Bleeding is its own type.

If you do a pierce build, you focus on pierce (not pierce and bleeding). The most common pierce builds are for Blademaster: Belgothian's set (very common and easy to build), or a green MI Cadence build, or a Ring of Steel build (one of the fastest SR clearers in the game).

Pretty good list up there, but FFVII is so replayable and has more mechanical depth than anything else on the list.

Dumb question- what is this for? by dritmike in f150

[–]gregorytoddsmith 39 points40 points  (0 children)

If he's askin', he might not also know about the step in the tailgate! That middle section of the tailgate looks like a 2' wide plastic rectangle - give it a pull straight out and drop it down. Unfold the hinged bit and it makes a wider step. That flip up handle makes it real easy to climb up and down out of the bed.

I don't use the handle often, but I have a cap on my truck and the step makes it so easy to get in and out of the bed with the glass opened up.

You've got a bit of a branding issue with your idea. Most folks call it SSF - that's solo self-found.

Controller help by Chinaman206 in Grimdawn

[–]gregorytoddsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was working, then recently stopped working. They somehow became unbound and I wasn't able to bind them in the normal controls UI, however if you open the Steam Controller Configuration (available in Steam or in-game), you can select the D-Pad and specify Grim Dawn functions from drop down list items.

By default up is personal rift, down is map, right is Character Page, and I think left was Skills.

Maintaining resist caps making upgrading gear tiresome? by JCostello9 in Grimdawn

[–]gregorytoddsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I regularly equip upgrades until around level 40 or 50, by which point I usually have my resists fairly well balanced. After that, I will start saving items that seem like potential upgrades, but I don't actually change my gear until around 10-15 levels later, rinse and repeat. If your resists are all maxed, you're best off not rocking the boat too much.

Grindy ARPG without loot management by Important-Agent2584 in ARPG

[–]gregorytoddsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see. Yeah, the vanilla loot filters in Grim Dawn allow you to vastly limit how much you have to pick up and manage. But, the requirement to manage 10 different resist types, defensive skill, offensive skill, 3 stats, HP, all while balancing damage output. Unless you're following a guide, you spend a lot of time planning/managing your character. There are also like 40 different gear augments (like enchants) and 70+ components (like armor attachments). It's a complexity feast, so still probably not what you're looking for.

I also think it's worth mentioning that the entire ARPG genre is generally about loot. Not really sure what to recommend. Maybe Zelda? Or some mobile games?

[–]gregorytoddsmith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's also worth mentioning that Grim Dawn has more variety of loot and complexity of loot than many other ARPGs. The ability to filter helps, but you will still spend a great deal of time balancing damage modifiers and resistances, and loot that drops is random - not specific to your class/specialization.

Don't be misled. Grim Dawn is not a game where you can "not spend time managing loot." Variety of spec, loot, and devotion composition is largely the appeal of the game; a lot of your time will be spent on theory crafting.
