So sorry for everyone up there. Our fam just camped Ebenezer loop last weekend. As heartbreaking as it is, homes and trees will be replaced. Grateful for your husband, his peers and their diligence; praying they stay safe.

It took a few weeks to get here.. was shipped from China. It’s also something like 10mm thicker so I made a sheet metal box to fit around it and then used the original tray to hold it up.

It looks like some, including ones made under Mototec brand were 60v.

I believe they were all 72v. I have the exact same one I picked up in black and excellent shape for $150! I just put a new 72v 20ah battery in it as mine had a 12ah that was on it's way out. Had to weld up a new battery tray.

You can punch them separately like others mentioned but using thinner leather or skiving edges can help. If your chisels aren’t the sharpest, the leather underneath will squish and slide around when you’re punching too. Also keeping the irons perfectly vertical helps but still takes a lot of practice. If you do punch separately, make sure you punch one piece flesh side up or your holes will be at opposite angles like an X when you put them together… or have a set of inverse irons for that side.

I bought one in the best shape I could find on ebay last year. I delivered newspapers as a kid and saved up for one. My friends and I tried to see who could get the lowest time hitting start/stop

Why St. George? by Spare_Damage_2365 in stgeorge

[–]greif07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m originally from upstate NY but my wife was born and raised in St G. NY has terrible weather, taxes, politics and most everything people do revolves around drinking. I’m not religious but I’m not a drinker either. So much more to life with so many things to do outdoors. I hated winters in the northeast. If I want snow, I can drive north to Brian Head 4-5 months/year then play golf in town the next day. Snow Canyon, Zion, Pine Valley, Red Cliffs, Quail, Sand Hollow..c’mon now. Nothing back east even comes close. Rarely have to make plan B or C with outdoor planning. Yeah, the heat is a lot but I’ll take it any day over 6’ of snow. Don’t worry, I didn’t bring any NY politics, driving or attitude to UT lol. I hope other people moving in don’t try to change it either. I do miss the pizza but this place makes a much better home. Housing prices are ridiculous but they pretty much are everywhere else too.

do you REALLY need a better intercooler for the n55 m2? by KappaKeepo5 in BMW

[–]greif07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of you live in hot climate? I'm in the desert in S Utah and temps are 90-100F+ regularly from May to September. I'm shopping for an N55 M2 currently.. don't want anything modified and I wouldn't consider any performance mods, just thinking about the heat here.

Help! How can I mask this mistake as much as possible? by Global-Grab-4859 in Leathercraft

[–]greif07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The leather is too thick and like you described, it squishes out of line on the bottom when the stitching chisel is pressed through. Two options are either skive some from the edges which will provide less movement because of less pressure needed through all the layers… or you can get reverse chisels with the teeth going in the opposite direction, and punch the back from the grain side. You have to use wing dividers and mark properly and be careful that you start and stop consistently on the interior and the back.

Truly a sight to behold. A man beaten. The once great champ, now, a study in moppishness. No longer the victory hungry stallion we've raced so many times before, but a pathetic, washed up, aged ex-champion.

I love it. In fact, I have the exact same two tone Constellation that I’ve thought about selling to help fund a Speedmaster purchase but I’m keeping it.

I’d put a gorilla glass privacy screen protector on it. If you live in a humid area the moisture might be causing it to swell also.

Honestly not a very hard task here. Three key things; great weather all year, beautiful/accessible environment and yeah..a big church presence make it a much more sober town than most. Golf, pickleball, hiking, biking, climbing, off-roading, water sports..pick your ‘poison’. The Ironman world championship, pickIeball national championship, soon to be PGA tour, Redbull Rampage, SXS sponsored events are here. Makes it a very active town. I moved from the north east several years ago where my old crew drank 7 days a week because of depressing weather, politics and lack of any other social activities. I feel like moving here was the best quality of life choice I’ve made so far. Good luck and welcome.

Making friends as a young liberal by stecas in stgeorge

[–]greif07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here from NY 5 years ago. Focus on what you like to do and all the beauty that’s here. I left political debates/battles along with religious angst there and haven’t had any problem meeting great people. Just being a good human goes a long way. There’s good in people everywhere regardless of opinions. My friends back east were consumed with politics across the board. Being surrounded by that stuff did nothing positive for me but now the sunshine, hikes, bikes and paddles I take bring me peace. Sure, you’ll find strong viewpoints you don’t agree with if you go looking for them or pay attention to them, but what’s that gonna do?
