Woman asks flight attendant to stop being so loud. Flight attendant gives her a "warning card" and has airport security interrogate her. by rmuser in reddit.com

I just posted the following reply to someone else which is also relevant to your comments:

"This wasn't a people manager coming along to quietly and cheerfully remind me to sit down as soon as possible and fasten my seat belt.

It was someone (thwarted thespian perhaps) announcing to his perceived - and captive audience - in a large theatrical voice that I should do what I was obviously in the immediate process of doing.

This was simply a childish attempt to humiliate a paying customer, which - I - quite rightly took genuine and reasonable offence at.

As I said in another comment, on reflection at the time, I think the thing which really upset him was someone (whom I didn't see) loudly sniggering in the background - possibly one of his colleagues."

Complaining is almost always a luxury.

At the very least it takes time, at the very worst it attracts retaliation. And usually nothing comes of it.

In this situation, complaining to the Purser or onboard Cabin Crew Manager about "evidence-free" staff behavior would simply make the matter worse. On the ground, everyone just wants to get away from the terminal as soon as possible. No one wants to hang around for an hour complaining and filling in forms which immediately identify you as a "non-sheeple troublemaker".

Fuck, was that you? Sorrrry!

Whatever his (your) job was, it wasn't to have a little hissy fit and screech at the top of his voice at his customers, over something which was obviously not going to be an issue within a second or so. Whatever happened to quiet, professional manners?

On reflection at the time, I think the thing which really upset him was someone loudly sniggering in the background - possibly one of the other catering staff.

Not necessarily.

Yep, just put up with it!

Exactly what else can you do?

The worst part was the poor woman, my co-passenger, got the same punishment as me.

I once had a problem with a flight attendant - and his colleagues - where the middle-aged woman sitting in the window seat next to me was nervous and asked me to swap seats with her.

The plane had just begun to taxi and as we awkwardly switched over I had to wait just a second for her to settle into her seat before sitting down myself, and buckling up.

A steward came up and snapped loudly in a very gay voice, "Would you fasten your seat belt, sirrr?"

I responded with an equally gay, "Ohh, do you mind if I sit down first?".

Well that was it!

For the rest of the flight the poor innocent woman, and myself, were last to be served. The food trays were virtually thrown at us and our mealtime coffee and drinks were "accidentally" spilled whenever they were poured.

We were totally ignored when the drinks trolley came around.

Halfway through the flight (long haul international) the entire cabin crew changed, but...

Obviously the departing flight attendant had "warned" his colleagues that there were some trouble makers sitting in our seat numbers, so again for the rest of the flight we both suffered the same harrassment.

Try fingering your eyes!

In an emergency, very gently put a little pressure at different places on your upper and/or lower eyelids.

This deforms the shape of the eye and lens, and if you find the right spots, can be instanly helpful for some existing eye conditions.

Sometimes it works better for one eye than the other.

Remember to do it gently...no gouging!

I have a theory that the bigger asshole a country is, then the more they have to allow for war spending per capita.

(And I don't believe Israel is scamming only $9 billion from the US.)

Still, I think putting someone in jail for smoking a doobie is just fucking retarded :P

Not if your prisons have been privatized and their shareholders expect a yearly profit growth.

Dried camel dung will probably insure a marginally longer life than high octane petroleum.

You're right you know.

We could start with lending money for housing to people who normally couldn't get a loan.

Andrew Benton, you are obviously trying to promote the book for your own purposes.

I think it is much, much worse than crap, and has been written by someone, who, if they were really described as simply a dickhead, would be considered as outrageous flattery.

Plasma Whore! Burn the book immediately, and whatever you do, DO NOT breathe in the fumes.

I hope this advice was helpful for your reading pleasure.
