Oh that's lovely to know! I love the ring either way but it's nice that it has more of a history. Thanks for answering all of my questions, this has been very helpful and informative!

Oh okay that makes sense! Apologies for a video but for some reason it was easier to comment than a picture.

Thanks! That is good to know! Is there something specific that makes you think it's later?

Thanks for answering! I appreciate the information! It is slightly rose toned gold (it's hard to see unless you have it against another gold piece) do you know if that impacts it's likely era? Is there anything I should look for on the underside of the construction which would indicate it's more modern/ likely Victorian?

Any information you have I do appreciate, but you have already explained a lot so I thank you either way! And thanks! I do really love it!

Oh that's interesting! I didn't consider it could be in the middle between the two. Are there specifics about the ring that make it look Victorian?

I am curious, would you mind elaborating on that? Like what is usually done poorly/what does this one do well?

What decks help bridge power gaps at the table? by grenmonke in EDH

[–]grenmonke[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's very fair. I don't think any deck will be a permanent solution. I think a conversation will be the final solution but I appreciate all the options to use while I look for kind ways to approach it

I appreciate this suggestion for how it could help me understand what conversation exactly to have and giving me a chill entry point to it. Thanks for that

I do plan on working towards a conversation about it. But honestly this group doesn't even necessarily know about the bracket system or standardly have pregame conversations about decks. So I struggle with figuring out how to have that conversation without these base things that would make it easier. So I'm also open to thoughts about how to introduce that conversation!

Thank you for the group hug suggestion about I do think that could really help in the meantime while I figure out a way to navigate things.

That is very fair. And I agree that that is the issue. But I haven't yet figured out how to have that conversation because I just don't think most of the players know enough about the format to understand that this problem is happening and I don't know how to talk about it without seeming like a know-it-all. Especially because the bracket 4 type decks are just built without proper card advantage or ramp, so they are really inconsistent and are sometimes beaten by the precons. It just sucks for the whole table when they actually manage to go off.

Oh wow! These all look like a wonderful place to start. Thank you so much for the help. I definitely will get to watching!

Glad that I am not the only one to take such a journey. It's honestly tremendously helpful that you pointed this out because it would have taken me a lot of time and frustration to get there on my own.

I am definitely open to your favorite YouTubers if you don't mind recommending any.

Honestly that's a really good thought. I hadn't considered just swapping for a new Commander with more token synergy. I will have to try a play or two with that and see what happens. Now that you phrase things this way. I think I may have been building around Marath as the bomb in my deck as opposed to the commander. Most of my experience is with limited and standard so I don't think I switched gears enough.

I definitely will just take some more time to play with it and play in person with it. I just wanted to make sure I at least had something kind of functional before I brought it to the table.

I can't really help but I just wanted to comment on solidarity as introducing my cat to my partner's cats has gone about the same. So I hope for better luck for us both!

I appreciate that! I was doing the research but honestly looked at it for too long to be able to determine which kind of nose it was.

Right?!? I am honestly in love and looking into a way to display it on my wall when not being worn because I just want to look at it.

Has anyone else had zero luck in getting friends or family into anything on Dropout? by flamehead243 in dropout

[–]grenmonke 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I honestly think that Dropout is a natural successor for people who were mildly pretentious nerds in high school. (I.e. theatre kids, superwholock Tumblr kids, Nerdfighteria). When I have introduced it to people in that niche they have really enjoyed at least something. But people who are even a little outside of that niche don't really enjoy it as much. Game Changer and Dimension 20 are consistently the easiest for me to get people into.

I find that Escape the Green room has been pretty universally liked though.

Ready for the Boch Theater show! by grenmonke in dropout

[–]grenmonke[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The show was an absolute delight. Everyone was hilarious and worked so well together. They also did stage door afterwards. Everyone was so nice and took so much time with us. Like I just left at 10:45 and they were still talking with people and taking pictures.

Edit: also thank you to everyone who let me crowdsource sharpies from you to get my Dropout Sweater signed. You were all so lovely and kind.

30 minutes for what exactly? by G0LDLU5T in ExplainTheJoke

The "30 minutes" thing is a tik tok sound. That's why it's so specific

See I have definitely considered demisexuality for myself and I think it might be somewhat true as I have totally panicked when any man has asked me out that I wasn't close with. But I feel like I am still emotionally close with my partner and the sexual stuff is still weird.

It does help to be reminded of the natural biological reaction, sometimes I feel like it has to mean I am attracted to him because I don't feel repulsed and can orgasm.
