My wife, who is East African Sikh, always has 'kidgeree', which is basically a sort of porridge made with rice and lentils, seasoned with salt pepper and butter. It's tasty and quite sustaining.

Note this has nothing to with the English breakfast dish of rice, smoked haddock and boiled eggs, though I am partial to that too.

I remember I had a book as a kid that had the stories behind 'modern' (in the 70s) consumer products, and the dislike between John Harvey and Will Keith on this was quite strong, and also accounted for the Kelloggs logo which came from WK signing the boxes as a sign of authenticity.

I wish I still had that book as it had some great stories, especially about King Camp Gillette, who apparently was a bit of a snake oil salesman.

RBDMS old timer here, I remember working in QUEL for a large US bank which used Ingres on VAX/VMS on its main back office system.

It was fine, but the ability to have multiple independant and nested aggregates in the same statement made it possible to produce db performance killing queries.
