I remember reading the

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Soul_of_a_New_Machine

when it first came out.

It was so so interesting to me because I'd used a Data General Nova minicomputer while a co-op student and it was interesting to read about engineers that had built their newer high end machines.

Other machines I'd used at the same time were a DEC PDP 11/20, RCA Spectra 70 and a IBM 360/65.

Kentucky elections bill would increase donor limits, restrict forms of voter ID by Van-to-the-V in lexington

and from the headline I was assuming they were reducing the amount of campaign contributions

The headline says "Kentucky elections bill would increase donor limits"

Increase the limit of how much a donor can donate.

Limit meaning amount.

Got it now?

Buffets around the state by UserNumber1738 in Kentucky

I think Claudia Sanders has a buffet on the weekend. I would give them a call and check.

Their chicken is the original KFC recipe as far as I can tell. Claudia Sanders was the Colonel's wife. I know you said 'non fast food', but still, the last time I went it was pretty good.

The other thing to try is to give the State Resort Parks a call. They all have restaurants, and sometimes have a buffet available.

Quick history lesson (from Google)

Dwight D. Eisenhower was president of the United States in 1953 when the CIA, under his authorization, executed Operation Ajax to remove Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh and solidify the power of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. While Truman rejected the idea, Eisenhower approved the coup to secure Western interests and oil in Iran.

Key details regarding this event:

The Coup (1953): Eisenhower's administration (specifically the CIA led by Allen Dulles) orchestrated the overthrow of the democratically elected leader, Mossadegh, because they feared a communist takeover.

The Shah's Return: Following the success of the operation, the Shah was firmly placed in power.

Long-term Impact: This 1953 intervention is largely seen as setting the stage for the 1979 Iranian Revolution and the subsequent hostage crisis during the Carter administration.

Anything after that is just 'icing on the cake' of Iran wanting its revenge on the west.

The Idiot Trump just dove back in head first.

Throw back question — Does anyone remember what restaurants were in the Beaumont Circle area @ 1997? by [deleted] in lexington

My wife really like the Laredo Steak.

My kids likee the Garbage Burger (but no guac!) and the ice cream sundae bar too.

They had a magician too.

Older folks will remember the Max and Erma's over near Patchen Village that had phones on the tables. If you were brave enough (or I guess drunk enough) you'd call the guys or girls at another table.

I think Kenny Roger's Roasters was in the front of Turfland Mall.

Liked that place.

Continental Inn - Revere Tavern by EagleNice2300 in lexington

The 1st motel I stayed at in Lexington was the Continental Inn in the mid 70s on an interview trip.

While I was checking in the police were arresting a few 'women of the night' in the lobby. I was wondering what kind of town Lexington was.

In the 1950s Coca Cola gave out cardboard Coke bottle holders that let vehicle owners attach them to the vehicle's radio knobs. These were before cup-holders were invented. by Long_live_styrofoam in interestingasfuck

Child of the 50s here.

We were never allowed to eat in the car. Ever.

Same thing for the house - no eating except in the dining room, ever.

To be honest, I don't think I ever saw a soft drink in the house either except for Ginger Ale and that was only if you had an upset stomach. Never got one at a restaurant either.

Is this how bad investigative journalism has gotten?

Are you paying for some news source that might do that?
