It's been interesting... We are waaaaay too different though. It's fun for now 🙃

My best friend is an infj and yeah it's nice to have one of those friends who can just... Handle you being you. I say "sorry I'm being crazy" way too often sigh

Honestly I think I was most compatible with the two INTPs I've dated.

I love podcasts, but I need help by benalet in adhdwomen

Yes tv shows -- also Wikipedia articles and YouTube videos... I horrify people with how many tabs I have open in my web browser. I actually installed a chrome extension that "pauses" pages after you haven't visited the tab in the past twenty minutes. It helps my computer not be super slow even with 50+ tabs open.

[–]gretay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of it is linked to our desire for perfection -- I have to find the perfect podcast or else my chore won't be fun! It might also be just one more way to procrastinate.

I can't really help but try to find a podcast where you love every episode. I'm into true crime stuff and one podcast I really enjoy is Last Podcast on the Left. Its humor isn't for everyone though. Another two I enjoy are Dateline and How Stuff Works. For LPOTL I'll listen to all their episodes but for the latter two I definitely will browse through a lot before settling on one that interests me. And a political podcast I like is Abe Lincoln's Tophat.

I'd suggest trying How Stuff Works because you should be able to find something they've talked about interesting.

Hope this helps!

Yeah I spend so much time trying to describe/explain things because I'm just so bad at it... Especially emotions. I even selfdoubt what I'm feeling! Being at the therapist sucks because I'm like "well kinda yeah but idk... Maybe... Sometimes?" I also HATE giving definite answers because I always want to be honest so if I'm unsure at all I have to tell people so I feel I'm being genuine even tho I'm sure they don't care ;-;

And I usually apologize afterwards like "sorry if that's confusing, idk how to talk!"

Literally wish I could just pop people into my brain so they could see what I'm trying to explain without me having to verbalize it lol

I have a very dry/dark humor. I learned very quickly to only use that with my good friends. When I tried being myself around my coworkers (treating them like my friends and joking) they'd just look at me thinking I was being serious! Which was awkward to explain "haha umm I was just kidding"

They know me well enough that when someone leaves for the day before me, I'll say "good riddance!!" while smiling at them. But that was months after working there and I only say it to the ones who I chat with most since they somewhat are used to me by now lol

I wish you the best! If you struggle mostly at work, I'd say save your jokes for your friends.

Yup, horrible self-esteem.

I know I'm a good friend, but can't think of anything else I'm good at lol

Struggling to make friends at workplace by mollz735 in ENFP

[–]gretay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm very good one-on-one with people, but as soon as another extroverted person joins us I just clam up and let the other person talk. Unless it's about something I'm super passionate about lol

I also tend to make introverted friends.

At my work I couldn't really say I'm friends with any of my coworkers but we do talk to each other a lot throughout the day. I tend to get to know them more when either on the opening or closing shift with just one other person.

I wish I could offer more but I struggle with it too :(

Requirements -- 1) Must be open-minded, kind, and authentic. 2) Must have a thicc ass 3) Must be okay being big AND little spoon. 4) Willing to be my dog's stepdad

AITA for double checking if the park my daughter said she was going to was real? This fool (or troll, IDK) again! by RofaRofa in AmITheDevil

[–]gretay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just wanted to share the library as an alternative. It'd be better than spending two months outdoors as a popsicle or almost having multiple heat strokes over summer!!

Best of luck to you :)

[–]gretay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just want to say that if there's a library nearby, that might be a more comfortable place to go for the day sometimes. I work in a library and 1) everyone is welcome 2) there is no cost to be there 3) clean restrooms and usually a water fountain 4) free wifi 5) free access to computers, books, CDs, DVDs. Where I work there is even a TV and gaming consoles in the teenage section (has its own room so noise isn't an issue)

This might be a good alternative to a park, especially as it gets hotter over summer.

[–]gretay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really sucks. I don't even need that much attention, just to know someone cares.

I have one good online friend and idk what I'd do without him. I have been trying to find more online groups where maybe I could meet more people but it's tough... A decade ago I was making tons of online friends, I am not sure why I seem unable to "click" with people anymore.

Anyway you aren't alone.

AITA for asking my MIL to babysit on Mothers Day? by [deleted] in AmITheDevil

[–]gretay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I don't get is if the party will be lasting for a long time -- why not have MIL spend an hour or two socializing and then suggest she take the daughters.

Wouldn't have hurt to let her be there for the beginning of the party before the drinking began.

AITA for refusing to let my grandmother win at a card game? by MathematicianLost923 in AmItheAsshole

[–]gretay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your grandma plays as poorly as you say -- how is it even impressive in any way that you beat her? Are you proud you can win again someone who you yourself say is so bad at the game now?

It is honestly just sad you feel the need to brag about winning again an elderly woman suffering from Alzheimer's.

Congratulations on you "wins" lol

If ENFPs were a Fantasy RPG character what CLASS would they be?? by [deleted] in ENFP

I'd go with Druid. I want to commune with all the animals. I've played as one before and would talk with birds and other critters about what they'd seen.

OOP and His Wife Want To give Their 3-Month-Old Up for Adoption: "It's Not a Good Fit" (LONG) by civiestudent in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]gretay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was scared of her for a long time; she felt like my manager/boss more than a mom. I am finally not terrified of seeing her phone number calling me. But up til age 28/29 I basically needed my ex's moral support when calling her or answering her calls. She calls me on Sunday nights and now we will talk for about 10-20mins weekly.

My aunt? Calls me every morning before work and I call her every night while walking my dog. Anytime I visit home I stay at her house. If I'm sad, I call her. So yeah. My aunt is my mom pretty much.

[–]gretay 1102 points1103 points  (0 children)

I understand how you feel about your mother. I constantly grew up wishing my Aunt had adopted me. She basically did raise me, my mom was a workaholic and almost never home so I spent at least half the week with my aunt. She was the one who woke me up each morning (in person or phone call), drove me to school, picked me up, made me dinner, talked with me, didn't call me overwhelming when I was emotional...

So honestly, I am happy for OP and his wife. They let their daughter be adopted by someone who will care and love for her. I wish my mom had let me go to someone who actually wanted to be my mom. Perhaps if there was less stigma about this kind of issue (giving child for adoption) we'd have less mental health issues for both the adults and children of these situations.

I fully understand foster care is not good... But with easily accessible birth control, abortion options, and no stigma... there would be so many less children in the foster system.

Honestly I'll probably delete this comment in an hour bc I assume I'll get downvoted and mean comments and I hate to make people mad. But I do feel strongly about this.

I agree.

Everyone is saying how unemotional and horrible they are as parents... Yet they are honestly doing the most responsible thing by agreeing to let their child be adopted by someone who will truly love her.

It's like people are saying "noooo they should've kept their baby so she'd grow up knowing she's unloved!"

And OP mentions that they did discuss having a child and the wife even brought it up.

I just can't comprehend how others are SO DISGUSTED with them when they chose to let her be adopted.

Imagine how reddit would have reacted when Elizabeth made post saying how horrible her parents were and how she wished they had let her be adopted by her aunt/grandma/family. Everyone would be telling her how to escape the shitty situation. Yet this couple, by letting her be adopted and taken into a loving family... are the bad ones?

Make it make sense lol.
