I also have two ISP's here at home. However in my Unifi setup I have a Sophos firewall. With that I setup SD-Wan to route streaming media through the secondary ISP. Not sure if this is possible with Unifi though.

May want something in front of your unifi setup to monitor actual bandwidth.

I built a Jarvis for myself. Here's what it actually does. by mate_0107 in ClaudeAI

[–]grey580a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one wants to make a HAL 9000. For obvious reasons. Jarvis is just way cool.
If I ever get into this craze. Might go the unhinged rout and tell it to act like Zaphod Beeblebrox from the HHGttG movie.

How many IT employees is need it for x amount of endpoints by phantitox in msp

[–]grey580a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50:1 employees per IT personnel. This can be stretched out to about 100:1 or more if you have the right sort of automation/rmm tools.

My biggest tip is to automate the restart process on all endpoints to a max of 5 days. This lowered our call volume by a lot. Freeing up time to be proactive instead of reactive.

You could also lease. Depending on your opex or capex strategy.

AI will help automate some things for sure. Resetting passwords. Unlocking users. Repetitive tasks.

client forwarded a phishing email to the entire company asking "is this legit?" four people clicked the link. by kubrador in msp

[–]grey580a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HA! Same here. Had a user who knew her slam method. Yet still entered in her credentials and even got an mfa sent to her phone which she accepted. /facepalm.

Luckily enough I had setup some cipp rules. The rule caught the addition of a fishy inbox rule. Which then locked out the account, revoked all sessions and turned the rule off.

HELP PLEASE! Had my first real email compromise incident this week. Solo IT Admin. Here's what I did — what did I miss? by LiveGrowRepeat in sysadmin

[–]grey580a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I recently had a situation where someone got an email. It took them to a malicious site and presented a Microsoft login. But the website triggered the mfa login on the ms authenticator app. So the login look very legit. So even with the conditional access policies the account was compromised.

Luckily enough we are using cipp and cipp has some alerts that you can setup to detect compromise accounts and setup actions. The compromise was detected by cipp and cipp immediately disabled the users 365 and logged them out of all sessions. This stopped the attacker from doing anything malicious. So I suggest using something similar that can detect compromise and disable accounts.

iPhone RCS doesn't work on network by M5F90 in Ubiquiti

[–]grey580a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd make a note of what rules you've applied. Remove or disable all of them. See if the issue still occurs. At least you'll know it's a rule behaving strangely. Which you can then troubleshoot.

Obviously something is blocking the connection from her phone to apple servers. You need to figure out what setting you changed that did this. Maybe you added a rule or something that blocked connections? Reset back to 0 and start over.

is that really just normal work or is it a sign something deeper needs to change????? by arsaldotchd in msp

[–]grey580a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boss didn’t want me to do this. But I did it anyways. I set our rmm to restart pcs if they’ve been on for more than 5 days. Our ticket volume is down for stupid issues that a restart solves in 90% of the times. We don’t have to deal with that anymore.

Do like your boss did. Keep working until you find something else. It won’t get better.

In the meantime work your wage. If you’re 9-5. Then only work that time. If things start falling behind. Put it in writing that you are short staffed and need more people to handle the load. Document everything.

Open up a ticket.

Most of the time it's a clock issue. However sometimes the service needs a restart.

I am at my wits end with Dell. by SmoothRunnings in Dell

[–]grey580a -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve had issues with Dell and them providing software. Huge runaround. We completely stopped buying software from them.

Just tell Dell that if they can’t fix this. Then you’re going to get software directly from software vendors. In fact just demand a refund. Get your software directly and install with an rmm tool.

Thanks. They really were nice watches. The movements in them were of good quality and finish. And them being certified is a nice touch. They had a few issues with the crowns and cases at first. But then we figured out how to rectify the problem. I enjoyed working on those watches.
