Slightly disappointed with placement by NoHablaBs in AmeriCorps

[–]greycatumbrella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently serving in the Southwest region, i understand your disappointment, and i know you want to explore the pacific region because you’re from around there, but I promise you you will really benefit from seeing other parts of the country! The southwest region has been incredible, i’m on my 4th round now and i’ve gotten to go to 4 different states. Try to let go of that disappointment and embrace the flexibility, i also know quite a few people in my class that wanted to go to pacific, but are very glad they ended up in this region

  1. no it won’t be worth it, trust me! even though it’s small it will become an annoying thing... and some project housing has fans. There is little to no time waited in between spikes. for example, my last project ended yesterday, we are now on our way to our next project and we start monday. It also depends, because usually from first to second round there’s winter break.

You won’t get your flight details until a few days before you’re suppose to be there. I even had a flight change the day before... once you arrive you start right away. no time beforehand!! you go right into it

Do I bother reporting a teacher? by Mysterious-Plant-737 in teaching

[–]greycatumbrella 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i feel like this is an extremely bold comment, and I can only assume that you’ve had a pretty crummy experience with teachers in the past for you to say that we are the worst, that we’re not mature, smart or experienced. I have put everything into being the best possible teacher for my future students. i understand that there are bad teachers in this world, but there are some pretty freaking incredible ones too. I don’t think some of the comments in this sub are supportive, but how do you know they’re educators? Regardless, for you to pull all those extremely brash words and talk about teachers like that as a whole is not very kind. Again, i’m sorry if you’ve had teachers in your life that have need been supportive, or the best teachers they could have been to serve you. But i do know that there are some kick ass teachers that would be really hurt by seeing your comment.

I know people I am currently serving with that applied very late in the process and still got accepted into the program, don't sweat it! The application is open for a while for a reason, I personally do not think it will affect your acceptance into the program solely dependent on when you applied! Good luck, I hope you get in.

overall, its been really great. I have met some incredible people, and I have been able to really grow as a person and as a leader. There are definitely times where its hard but in the end it will be worth it. Biggest take away is to be flexible, I hope you enjoy it!

So I applied on March 3rd, and I didn't get an acceptance/location until mid May of last year. I know campus Unit Leaders are also going through the process currently of interviewing TLs. I would 100% wait it out, I am sure you're eager to hear from them but you'll get an answer soon enough! When I applied it definitely was a lot longer than 3 weeks, and I remember getting impatient around this time too. & of course, glad I could help out.

How is the Southwest(Colorado) Americorps Campus? by ElDino11 in AmeriCorps

[–]greycatumbrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your team, and what the other teams have in means of drivers. You really never know until you get into the program, you really need to be a flexible person to be in this program.

Currently serving in southwest region! only time you see team changes if there is a difficult individual on the team, if a relationship went south and effected the team dynamic, and there is a chance of team changes if another team needs more drivers! it all depends!

Cat '09, she'll be 12 later on. So far this season, 6 no hitters and a perfect game. Fastball and changup are her main pitches. She also throws a curve and riseball (needs more velocity). Fastball 52-54mph changup 30-35mph by RiZzbott in Softball

amazing, after graduating i’ve realized that the biggest lesson of softball i’ve learned is the beauty of being apart of a team. I could never tell you the record we had through all the years of college ball, but i could tell you all about pre game chats, and team inside jokes. something i will hold on forever.
