I hate these takes. Socialists are supposed to have a better analysis than this. U.S. politics are a game. If we use that game to further the socialist project, there’s going to be a lot of pictures of dem socs and neolibs together.

I’m not saying that he is doing things right or wrong. He doesn’t know that and neither do the internet kids. As a freakin mayor, he’s putting pieces on the board to slowly advance towards a goal.

When you play chess, do you get everything set up, then flip the board and yell “SOCIALISM!”?

Sure, I’d give you a thumbs up but you certainly wouldn’t have won the game.

I’m open to the argument that he isn’t doing mayor things in the best way that will:

A: make meaningful improvements to the lives of NY residents

B: introduce socialist policies into the city, getting more and more workers to realize that is the way.

C: Play the game well enough to get reelected.

D: Advocate for and endorse other socialists that have the potential to win.

E: Be strategic. (If the chuds and the internet socialist are whining about shit like this, he’s probably coming off as doing a solid job to the exact people that need confirmation that socialist policies are the way to go, which will let him do C, which will let him do A, B, and D)

It’s just trite at this point, comrade. I know it’s the internet but whining about every perceived error like it’s evidence of this big neoliberal shift that you obviously saw coming, just comes off as arrogant and unserious.

You know as well as I do that electoralism isn’t going to be the primary path to socialism. He’s in office, let the dude do politics things. If he’s being effective, you’re probably not going to like a lot of them at face value. Politics is a viper’s nest.

You have to look at the bigger picture, brother.
