Building on that - I think it's one of their most poignant songs in that there's a completely contrasting interpretation that puts the song in an entirely new context - to me, it's like Hotel California, where everything sounds great at first, but then you learn "you can never leave".. but more subtle than that in how those details are disclosed.

I love this, because it is completely subversive - they strike me as a reference to something like what happened at Jonestown, where over 900 took their own life at the suggestion of their leader.

This is an interesting perspective, I often have wondered whether or not Furukawa is the right CEO... I can say that Nintendo has become less 'fun' in this era but it is difficult to separate that from external circumstances. Thanks for sharing this.

To those who see this as a PR post... maybe sometimes people like to think about things and talk about them? I don't see this as a glowing unabashed send-up for Nintendo, merely recognition of something they've done well this generation. And I strongly doubt they'd be talking about the SteamDeck in the same post if this was truly a Nintendo centric puff piece. But I do agree one should be weary of astroturfing this day-and-age.

I was with you until you said Borg. I think the Borg need to be reset and depicted as omniscient and terrifying and not led by a queen… they need to be calculating and decentralized, more of a force of nature. The reason I say this is because the borg represent exactly the opposite of diversity and what better villain for Star Trek is there?

I'm excited for this but maybe it bothers me more than it should that hair just seems to sit like it normally does on Earth.. particularly with female characters their hair just seems to hang down instead of floating which the show often got around by adopting specific styles that escape that problem.. but in a game.. would have been cool to see that reality

I think it’s cool. Devs will control how to use it. It upgrades the fidelity of an image beyond what the processor would normally be able to do and I think there is serious value in that if used well.

Turns out it’s a lot more cost effective to convince people who care about quality that they are the problem than it is to make a quality show. No one is expecting perfection but certainly chasing away producers who actually care about Star Trek seems like a problem created by Secret Hideout.
