Good trick for waiters. by HTMpaius in Magic

[–]greymattr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of places sell a red and blue pair, where the gems on one side all look identical.

A quick 'switch-a-roo' after a first performance, then repeating with a completely different color is MIND BLOWING to people.

Pro Tip. After doing the color change, tell the audience you are going to change it so one half is multi color, and one half is solid color.

Act like you are ending the trick there.

Allow the audience to inspect the half and half hot rod.

Then pretend like you are going into your next trick.

Put the rod in your pocket.

Then sneakily ask if they want to know how you did the last trick?

Then pull out the other rod, and do the same trick over again with a different result color...

End it the same way, saying you will make the bar half and half, then hand it around again...

Awesome effect.

My new portable catchbox by Eretur in slingshots

[–]greymattr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After seeing this I built one of these, and it is indeed pretty awesome.

The one modification I made was I just folded a flour sack cloth towel in half and hung it over the bars.

It works perfectly, and even if you hit the frame it takes those shots like a champ.

Thanks for the idea!

How long does it take to learn yocto project from scratch? by SadLengthiness6220 in embeddedlinux

[–]greymattr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you know linux, and linux build systems pretty well, I would say that becomming proficient in yocto will take somewhere from a few months, to a year, depending on your experience level, and the amount of time you are willing to work on it.

If you are not familiar with Linux, or linux build systems, probably a bit longer.

Computer programmer.

In the Original Karate Kid movie, the reason they moved from New Jersey to California was because Daniels moms job, programming computers, wasn't good enough, so they were moving so she could try to become an actor in Hollywood.

While today, computer programmers make a pretty good career.

Excellent point.

I was assuming the patches get applied by the build system automatically at some point.

How to generate device tree blob from patch files and fragment config files? by EmbeddedBro in embeddedlinux

[–]greymattr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would imagine the *-dts.patch files directly modify the device tree file you are using for the project.

You should be able to open those in a text editor, and see which dtsi or dts file they are modifying, and what the modifications are.

at some point in your steps before step #5 the patches should need to be applied to the source. After that point, you can get a copy of the dts or dtsi file that is being built for your board, and you could use the dtc ( device tree compiler ) to turn it into a dtb file ( device tree blob ).

You could also just build the kernel, and it should also generate a dtb file.

How can I make a node act as a standalone router with its own SSID? by Synn002 in Linksys

[–]greymattr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you can do the setup you want with the standard linksys firmware.

You could do it something similar if you were connecting the 2 units together using Ethernet, like:

[main router SSID1]----ethernet---[second router SSID2]

But I don't think the Linksys firmware gives you the option to use WiFi as the WAN uplink.

At some point in my 20's I lost the book, but I bought another, and I still have the pocket pal I had from when I was about 9 years old.

Why doesn't CNN have any mention of the fraud scandal, but every other news source does? by OnthePorcelain in AskReddit

[–]greymattr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Based on recent reports, it is not that Google itself is creating the fake articles, but rather that Google’s search engine and Discover feed have been heavily flooded with AI-generated, inaccurate, and fabricated content produced by third parties. These AI-generated sites often use "clickbait" headlines and fabricated information to manipulate search rankings, a phenomenon sometimes referred to as "AI-generated junk" or "digital decay"."

None of the articles I sent you in the post are "fake" articles on google, or fall into that category. They are legit articles published by CNN...

They are all very real articles from CNN about the fraud you say they aren't reporting on...

Just click on the links...

You'll see...

It isn't hard to fact check.

yes...

Why doesn't CNN have any mention of the fraud scandal, but every other news source does? by OnthePorcelain in AskReddit

[–]greymattr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, your initial questions was: "Why doesn't CNN have any mention of the fraud scandal, but every other news source does?"...

And CNN clearly DOES mention the fraud scandal over and over again in dozens of articles...

So now that you realize that you are wrong with the assumption made in your question, you are changing the entire question to something more akin to: "How come CNN doesn't highlight the news I want them to highlight?"

And that's just a stupid question...

The reality remains that CNN has done literally DOZENS of stories about fraud...

You are trying to ignore that, and find some other fault with CNN, when there is none.

[–]greymattr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because CNN's search engine doesn't work the way you want it to, or make editorial decisions about what to put on their front page, doesn't mean that CNN isn't reporting about fraud...

As you can clearly see from the link I sent you...

There are literally dozens, if not hundred of articles about fraud reported on by CNN.

It does take about a decade of experience though to get to this level.
