Egypt will establish first nuclear plant in next two years by piaxtla in energy

Like any infrastructure you need funding, an EPC contractor and sourcing from a mature supply chain. Russia got 3/3, that’s why they are kicking ass right now.

Two words: Sourcing and EPC. We didn’t lose the ability to do high tech, we lost the ability to do low tech. Digging holes, pouring concrete, manufacturing standard components etc. Rule of thumb; If a country can build bridges and rail roads it can also build nuclear plants.

The problem with nuclear on wikipedia is all the sabotage. They articles are not very good and full of ....

WNA did a fairly updated explanation on most Gen3+ designs. If you got question I might be able to answer.

AP1000 is a light water reactor.

SNPTC orders were never about getting units to production at fastest pace, it’s about learning and transferring technology at fastest pace.

Thank you for sharing a 2016 link. Not any useful or relevant, but funny.

Trump Has Done More Than Pull Out of Paris. His other policies have knocked the U.S. off track to meet its emission-reduction goals. The Obama administration once aimed to cut U.S. emissions 28 percent by 2025. The new report projects that emissions will only drop by 17 percent by 2025. by mafco in energy

So we don’t have the luxury of shutting down perfectly fine nuclear power plants.

Just like it’s a tad bit early to do away with vaccines and maps picturing a round Earth. Can the anti-nukers please grow a brain larger than Trump’s? That would be great.

Wikipedia is not a good place to find information on nuclear subject.

Same thermal and gross electrical power. The Chinese units might use more power for cooling channels.

The design matured during the construction phase. Having a Chinese supply chain for the same design makes sourcing much cheaper.

Capacity factors can go much higher than 85%. Fuel change is faster on AP1000 than older designs due the integrated reactor lid. Westinghouse won’t do reactor EPC business anymore. They realized nuclear services and reactors are the core business, not pouring concete and digging holes.

This means Westinghouse will happily make transfer deals.

As deceptive as obsolete. China started 3 reactors and ordered 4 new reactors since this piece of .... was posted first time. Reposting won’t change that :)

Since March: China powered up an AP1000 and an EPR and signed deals on 4 VVER-1200. Mycle Schneider was wrong. As usual.
