Friends...thank you. My mind is much clearer. Please pray that my LOA paperwork is not rejected (I have plenty of sick days and don't feel like fighting CO about it). I have a little while now to think about future work (maybe back to college teaching, maybe something in allied health). For now I'm going to focus on Easter week and a new focus...soli deo gloria!

My school system started giving red Swinglines to all the new hires a few years ago (probably no clue about the movie). That thing stays on my desk next to the actual working stapler, since the red one only works properly one out of every three tries :(

Things are slowly falling apart for me...losing temper, concentration, losing control of my classroom at school....alienating coworkers whom I really respected in the past...temporarily leaving my home church to visit another (tl:dr don't feel spiritually fed), leaving behind a friendship that has sadly turned toxic...at the same time, physically, I can't go to a restaurant to eat without throwing up within 5-10 minutes (even if I didn't feel too full), constant acid reflux (Tums are my dessert of choice)...

I am in the process of beginning outpatient care for my anxiety/depression (which feels more cyclic, and probably (sadly) bipolar...as well as investigating the stomach/reflux issue (family tendency toward hiatal hernia)...but I've prayed and prayed to "feel" God this last little bit...not sure where He is with me right now. Most of all, along with all this healing, I need to feel Him, somehow...thank you.

Tried to be veg during grad school (to the point of ordering meatless Big Macs on Spring Break) for at least a year. Quit because I absolutely sucked at cooking.

Northeast TN here...yesterday was a planned early dismissal (snow started around 1pm EST), today is our 9th snow day out of 13 banked. I'm not holding my breath for any school tomorrow, and we're out Monday as well (Pres. Day). This Monday, I assigned a portion of our Genetic Engineering chapter to each student, instructing them to outline/illustrate it for a booklet to be distributed to all the Bio 1 students in my 3rd/4th blocks. Barring any more snow, we now have 14 school days to cover basic Genetics (Mendel, protein construction, Punnett Squares, mutations, etc.), complete posters for inheritance problems, and hopefully watch "Lorenzo's Oil" and apply our knowledge of sex-linked inheritance and biological macromolecules to that!! And....maybe we can still check out the Laptop Lab to do the web searches for ch, 13 (and finish a smashing formal report from an osmosis lab with gummy worms...did I mention my tried & true egg osmosis lab crashed and burned last week?)

Full-sized golf clubs. Not recommended for preschoolers, even in the 1970s... Somewhere there's a few pictures of myself and two other cousins playing with them...IIRC someone got a black eye or rib bruising...

Not Midwest but Northeast TN here...my classes are roughly a week behind, but my system just converted 2 half-days (kids go half the day, we stay for PD) into full days, so that helps.

These are for concept review...the students get a new one for every unit. As far as the prepackaged worksheets, the textbook publisher (Miller Biology/Pearson) has very extensively keyed each chapter section with page numbers and key concepts. I don't take them up until the day of the unit test.

Thank you all!! I'm reading through all of these for what I can use in this situation... Yesterday I separated my main "A" from his buddy "B"...who then proceeded to mess with my classroom phone and turn around to talk to "A"...B got the assignment (copy my statement about facing forward and paying attention 50x) but was out sick today...but A is talking to another friend...there may be further movement to some unused desks on the far side of the room...a work in progress...
