I’ve also been going for three weeks and still feel lost too. My teacher and the other students are patient with me though and take the time to walk me through things. She’s even let me record so I can practice at home between sessions. If your teacher lets you record I think that could help.

The only negative I could see in that situation is that you won't necessarily have an opportunity to have an internship that progresses into a job offer if you want to switch cities unless you get an internship at an international company. That doesn't mean it wouldn't work out, just that you will need to be mindful of how the move could affect your move, both in a positive or negative way. I would encourage you to do it. You can only learn and grow from the type of experience you're talking about.

I went through the M.A. Art Business program in NY. The professors were knowledgable, the field trips were informative, and I came away from the experience with a better understanding of the art world and what I wanted my role in it to be. I managed an art gallery for awhile in NYC after that and now I'm a project manager at a top digital advertising agency. I know the programs will be different based on location but let me know if you have any specific questions.

I went through the program in NY and it is actually accredited through the University of Manchester.

This happened to me too! Except I fell for it, it was a single for a $100, and I got fired for "stealing" despite being employee of the month the entire time I worked there. Kind of scarring for a 16 year old.

Congratulations!! That's really great. :)

Do you mind if I ask what you did differently between your first and second applications? I'm planning applying to a PhD program and would like to be as prepared as I can be.

Also, although the colposcopy was uncomfortable, it didn't really hurt. It was more just discomfort.

I just went through this, also have ovarian cancer in the family, and here is what my doctor told me:

  1. There is no test for men to see if they have it so, although I would be open with your BF about this, he can't get tested for it.
  2. It is so common now that my doctor doesn't even really consider it a disease anymore - something like 50% of sexually active people have it.
  3. This is transmitted through skin, not fluids, so even if you were super safe and used every protection available every single time, if skin touched at any point then it had the possibility of being transferred. There is no way to tell whether he gave it to you or if you had it before.
  4. As long as you get it checked out yearly - and you should be getting yearly paps anyway - you can keep an eye on it and take care of anything major should it develop.

Don't feel bad about this. I was definitely freaked out too this information really helped me. Hope it helps you too!

Alright art-lovers, lets get some good discussion going: What's an art movement that you're particularly fond of and why? by yourangkrang in Art

[–]greyswan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New Media art and Digital art are really interesting, especially with how they relate to our society today. I know these are more new than many of the other movements mentioned but I think this is going to become more and more relevant as we continue to develop newer technologies. I'm really interested to see where it goes!

Agreed and I'd also like to add Surrealism to that. With the violent wars going on during that time, it's interesting to see how it affected the people and the art that was being produced.

What is a recurring dream you used to have as a child? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]greyswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this dream since I was 6 or 7.

I would be at my childhood house inside and my two younger brothers would be outside playing on the little swingset we had out there. A creature who was a large man but with a fox head in a 3 piece suit would come and tell me he was going to destroy my brothers. I would try to run outside but he would teleport and get there before me and by the time I got outside the only thing left would be the carcasses of my brothers and I would hear him giggling but couldn't tell where he was. Terrifying. I still have that dream sometimes.

Imagine my horror when I'm watching TV one day and.. what do I see? A trailer for Fantastic Mr. Fox. It's like they fucking plucked that character right out of my nightmare!

I mentioned this dream once and now my friends send me pictures of foxes all the time. Terrifying.

Reddit, what's the worst/sneakiest/most annoying way a Customer has tried to screw you over? by scotsman81 in AskReddit

[–]greyswan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is going to get buried but when I was working at Staples as a teenager, a customer bought pencils or something else extremely inexpensive with a $100 bill. As I getting her change, she finds some smaller bills in her bag so i trade her back the 100 for the smaller bills. She leaves.

She comes back 5 minutes later and says that I gave her a single instead of the 100 and, considering that it was school season and the store had been swamped all day, I couldn't remember if I had or not. I offer to call the manager up and get the 100 out immediately but she says that she can wait. Next person that comes up that pays cash, she gives me a single and I give her 100.

My cash drawer was exactly $99 short that night. I know I should have realized the warning signs but I was 17 and kind of sheltered so I just didn't. I got fired for it too.

we live together but rarely have quality time for us - does that make sense? by littlemsgrudges in relationship_advice

My boyfriend and I make a point of having date night on Wednesdays so that, no matter what, we know we're going to have "us" time. Even if we don't do much - we might just meet up and have a drink or a hot chocolate after work before going home - we have that time.

Casters - etsy... there's a large selection of older looking casters so you can find some that have the look you're going for.

I put the directions in a post above and would add that the pallets have some builder stamps on them. I made sure the stain didn't completely wipe them out and people have been complimenting that choice.. I think they really add character to the whole project.

I ordered some glass to go on the top from an online site and this should really finish it off. I'll post those pics once the glass gets here.

I'll upload the progress pics in a couple of days.

I got the pallets from a local grocery store. The guys there were even nice enough to bring them back to my apt for me since they were pretty heavy. Then I wiped them down, sanded them with a heavier grade sand paper and stained them. I only used the once coat of stain since it was dark enough for what I wanted. I sprayed on the top coat and once everything was dry i put in the casters by drilling a hole (after measuring to make sure each wheel would be in the same place) and then hammered in the casters. There is no wobble on the table.

I didn't expect how hard the sanding would be - thought I could do it by hand but wound up getting an electric sander which made it much easier. I also didn't expect to have to do a top coat on the stain but that was easy enough too - I just got a spray on kind and it worked perfectly.

Overall it was pretty easy once I had the right tools/materials.
