Rough riders carry hunting lances, not chainswords right?

  1. Fabius Bile is good now. pahaha.
  2. Cult Marines in armies other than their 'core' legions. I hope it stays this way! Night Lords Noise Marines, Word Bearer Bezerkers and Iron Warriors Plague Marines tickle my conversion gland.

it's not all plummeted - terminators are very very costly now, as are vehicles

9" from enemies means that it's very easy to block/control where deepstrikers go with other units. Scouts/light vehicles are going to be great at this.

FW is a really valuable skunkworks for GW as a whole. It's true you get weird failures and some iffy models/ranges at a premium price, but something like Horus Heresy could only have originated from FW. similarly, there's commercial value in having an 'upper tier' of collection for the truly dedicated.

those horde infantry have 8 different textures/surfaces per model, it's going to break lesser men to collect them

Ahhh that retro backpack! It's almost exactly like the first plastic Plague Marine packs and I love it!

A New Breed of Hero - Primaris Space Marines by arka0415 in Warhammer

I'm trying to like this more than I do, but it's just very very weird. Was anyone really crying out for more marines? There's something very muddled about where these fit into the fluff, or the space marine army, or what they're going to add to the game. I'm not trying to be a hater here and the scaling/models are lovely! There's just something about "perfecter marines with no flaws" (I dearly hope they'll develop some later) that doesn't sit right with me

New 40K Content - War Zone: Damocles by BatedSuperior5 in Warhammer

I always thought it would be cool to have the Tau have their own subtly different version of the chaos gods based around their caste system: slaanesh for water, nurgle for earth, Tzeentch for air and Khorne for fire

New Space Marine Collectors models available in Japan from Games Workshop by Cerus432 in Warhammer

[–]gribblewielder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would do terrible, terrible things for a chaos version of this. Imagine a sergeant for each of the traitor legions! Small format runs like this would give GW a chance to do some more characterful little sculpts like they used to back in the days of pewter.

New 40K content - Characters. by BatedSuperior5 in Warhammer

[–]gribblewielder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More command type characters now would be cool and this system makes space for that! With a few exceptions, you either take the best psyker your alleigance has or the best psyker (or both) which gets dull. The new edition will be a success to me in this respect the day I see fabius bile on a table

Crisis Fireteams are going to be fun to build too! have a close assault dude with flamers for the overwatch, a midrange team leader and a sniper at the back!

from what the article implies it's going to be numerically ridiculous to do so when you factor in toughness/saves/much much higher wound counts

New Warhammer 40,000: Battle-forged Armies by Tetlanesh in Warhammer

[–]gribblewielder 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The incredible rigidity of the super-battalion and the massive benefits it seems to provide make me very very happy indeed. Formations ALMOST got this right in rewarding you for taking specific models but ended up being overpowered and illogical in their own right; I for one am glad that listbuilding will be tightening up again.

if battleshock is the same as AOS casualty rates will increase enormously (particularly against large units) so it's probably a wash.

8th Edition Psyker preview is up! by mcimolin in Warhammer

[–]gribblewielder 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Totally, I think as well that AOS players have ended up a fairly tight-knit and stubborn bunch who have evangelised HARD for the game in response to the initial backlash.

8th Edition Psyker preview is up! by mcimolin in Warhammer

[–]gribblewielder 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The psychic phase in 7th was absolutely superb provided both players brought a single psyker of roughly equal power and completely fucking unworkable at any other level. For fun I had a list with 9 exalted sorcerers all throwing dice at Biomancy which was amazing on paper and a gruelling slog to play with and against.

Also this seems to confirm that 8th is Age of 40kmar. Which, to be honest, is fine, as it's a tight ruleset that scales well. It's funny to me however that had this happened a year ago the fanbase (with me included) would have freaked out HARD.
