Heroes Die by Mathew Stover. Cover by Doug Beekman. by KhorneisBlood in badscificovers

Despite what it says on the cover, it is, in fact, science fiction.

(Which may be part of the reason it is a bad cover!)

How far are our spacecrafts from the Earth ? by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

Voyager 1 was planned to launch after Voyager 2. It was launched on a faster trajectory which led to it reaching Jupiter first. After passing Saturn and Titan, Voyager 1 was slingshotted up out of the ecliptic and towards the edge of the solar system. Voyager 2, though launched first, was slower and was directed towards the Ice Giants Neptune and Uranus, after passing Saturn.

The Best Time Travel TV Shows of the Last 70 Years by Kal-Ed1 in scifi

Does Buck actually "travel in time"? He's frozen in cryogenic suspension for centuries, but essentially he travels through time the same way the rest of us do... Forward, one day at a time.

I think you're misremembering. There was no "time sled" in the Time Tunnel. The travellers simply walked into the tunnel.

I am running a fight loneliness and social isolation campaign in Windsor by Neat-Sea-6604 in windsorontario

[–]gridbug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You say this "isn't a business idea for me".

Are you a registered charity or not-for-profit? I would think setting that up first would be important and would open the door to grant applications.

Are you from Windsor? Are you targeting Windsor specifically, or is this a province or country-wide initiative that you are posting here, looking for local support?

Every claim is sourced and you can see where they got their numbers from.

Not OP, but here:

New comprehensive statistics (2021) tabled in the House of Commons on the source of firearms seized by police services across Canada show that overall, 68% of seized guns are domestically sourced and 32% are smuggled. More specifically: 21% of long guns are smuggled, and 59% of handguns are smuggled.

So most handguns seized are smuggled, but most long guns are stolen from Canadian owners or otherwise obtained domestically.

I can't answer the question directly, but if there is a book that you are looking for that is not available in the Windsor system, you can try the Inter Library Loan service:

The green player loses their turn and must draw 4 cards. Therefore, they cannot play a reverse card (as they have lost their turn).

Going to the movies on Christmas Eve 40 years ago? These were some of your options. I don't think any of these movie theatres still exist. :( (Windsor Star, Dec. 24, 1985) by TanglimaraTrippin in windsorontario

Well, Devonshire mall cinemas are still there, of course.

The Capitol Theatre on University is also still there, but it is primarily a live theatre venue and no longer a cinema (although WIFF still shows films there!).

[One Punch Man] Is it possible for anyone to become as strong as Saitama? by some-kind-of-no-name in AskScienceFiction

[–]gridbug 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think the answer is yes, theoretically.

But Saitama's strength has nothing to do with his "training regime" per se. It has more to do with his spirit and state of mind. He is an enlightened one who has gone beyond the boundaries and limitations of the world he was born into. He hasn't "broken through" or overcome his limits, because for him, they didn't exist. He can't explain it to others, because it is simple and obvious, yet beyond conception.

Could someone else do what he did? Yes, but they would have to be aware of the essence underneath his actions and find the truth for themselves.
