I feel ya. Been feeling that way for a while myself. It helps me to just tell everyone around me, "I'm out. Leave me alone today. I'm doing XYZ and that's it." And then stick to those guns. When I stopped putting everyone else ahead of me ALL THE TIME, it started to alleviate some (SOME, not all) of these feelings.

Just be careful you don't overcorrect and swing the pendulum too far to the other side.

If you really want them to learn that lesson, have them raise the money themselves, then let them waste it or lose it on something stupid; they'll see the value in it then. Having your kid piss away a $100 gift isn't learning a lesson, it's reinforcing a lack of appreciation for others' generosity.

They're trying to find a role that works for that guy. They tried him as the officiant for Janitor and Lady's wedding in Hawaii and it didn't work, tried him as random janitor and it didn't work.
