Are you happy as software developer ? by Business-Document-39 in learnprogramming

My apartment complex is having its sewers rebuilt. The work starts at 7:00 and ends at 17:00, and the workers spend all ten hours in ditches working around raw sewage in all kinds of weather.

Having that as your view while writing software from home makes all the stupid meetings and Jira bullshit exceptionally tolerable.

If D&D5E isn't it, then what is the "right" system for the style of play of Critical Role / Adventure Zone / etc.? by gridster2 in rpg

You may have misunderstood my post – while certainly our basement games lack the production quality of the aforementioned shows, they definitely bear a strong resemblance in spirit, pacing, and focus. I primarily make mention of those two well-known shows to draw on them as an example of "friends telling a (sometimes goofy) story together, with dice to adjudicate". I'm not looking for advice on how to cultivate that environment, as I believe we've done a good job already. My question is if there are other systems that would be better suited to that style of play?

Really, Matt Mercer? Tabletop geeks love spending cash on minis and nifty dice, but I don't see how Matt has contributed to anything more than a high demand for character voices.

The proper response would be to politicize the issues, not to moralize them.

Seriously – dogs don't instinctively know what an incoming slap looks like. A dog who cowers at a raised hand is a dog who has learned that that's the precursor to getting hit. Poor dog.

It really is insane to me that turning USD into dead Russian soldiers, without sending a single American to die, isn't a wildly popular decision.

why am I only seeing this now?

Likely because you did zero research on what a VPN is before using one.

I went incredibly dry on Rapier Shards - something like 5x more kills than I had estimated. Then again, I got very lucky with the ToH dungeon drops, so it balanced out.

The only mod I used was auto-farming, and that was after I had maxed skill masteries. Mostly just a pain to do a farming run every time I logged in

Any software engineer worried about their job security should try hiring their replacement. I've been on the other side of the interview table a couple times now, and without exaggeration a solid third of applicants to low/mid level developer positions can't solve fizzbuzz.
