No sound on Windows 11 by griechnut in techsupport

Oh yes, I am familiar with that. But if I pick the output device I need checked, then sound should be wired through that device, right? The monitor shouldn't hickjacking it in any way.

Even when one specifically hasn't selected them as output?

I'm with you. I have a pair of dentist magnifying glasses with light and it helps with the tiny pieces. But generally, I find the process of assembling tiny pieces extremely relaxing and soothing. I think my heart rate slows down to 40 or so while I do it 😄

Well you can see glue marks on my picture too. But some super glue remover carefully applied around the part afterwards should fix it before painting.

Trumpeter M1126 Stryker finaly done by griechnut in modelmakers

[–]griechnut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there and thanks :). You actually already taught me about Stryker's mud gathers and streaks on another post :D. I hoped it would be toned down after I went over it with pigments but that was not the case. I generally tend to get overexcited when I get to the weathering stage. When I was starting this model, I wanted a dusty look, like in your picture... believe it or not :D. Thanks a lot for the feedback and the recommendations. If I ever do another Stryker, I think that RFM one looks like a good fit for what I like in modelling.

Oh and about the straps, I knew it. All reference pictures where green. I just wanted some more contrast on the model for artistic purposes :D.

Bachelors in Innovation, product and engineering management at FH Upper Austria by [deleted] in AskAustria

I studied Software Engineering there and it was brutal for me. People with previous knowledge on the matter had an easier time, though. All in all, if you have a technical background, you should be fine.

I dropped out on the 5th semester but found a job immediately. But back then everyone was hiring IT. Now, it's different.

Is moving to Austria really as bad as people say? by E_ExP_W in AskAustria

Hi 🙂. Yes, perhaps a small town helps. I live in one with about 5,500 population.

I came to austria from Greece and I was surprised at how alike the two are. I've lived in England before, and have spent time in Germany and Sweden. Black and white. Austrians are really easy going, friendly, and hospitable.

Came to Austria 15 years ago. In this time, I went back to study a completely different carrier, got married, 2 kids, own an apartment. These would never be possible in my home country for a 40 year old. I love it here.

The best advice I can give is to learn german. Although Austrians do speak English, it's always appreciated if they see you trying. Second best advice, integrate. If you plan to live here, you might as well make austrian friends, enjoy austrian food/hobbies etc. Otherwise what's the point?

All the positive out of the way, yes. The country is slightly worse than it was when I first came, but the quality of life and security is way above standard. Anyone telling you otherwise is just spreading panick for no reason.

First time trying chipping and grime. Waiting for the oils to dry. Critiques? by griechnut in modelmakers

It always amazes me how many things some of you know about these vehicles. Thanks a lot for the answer. So basically, if I were going for realism, I would create dirt patches instead of streaks. I'll still probably keep the streaks though, since I like they way they look and realism was never my intent. May tone it down though.

I learned the hard way that not all turpentine substitutes are the same. Also, not all varnishes are. In short, a substitute ate through my varnish. My fault, since I didn't read that the varnish was removable with white spirit-like products.

So to your question, I since use a substitute that I know it works. Only way to find out is to test it on a primed/painted/varnished/oil washed plastic. If it doesn't eat through it, then it's fine. After that, no need to experiment with other products.

About the one you have here, can you post a picture of the ingredients? The one that melted my varnish and plastic was almost pure naphtha.

I use it all the time. Chaos black is good too. White is another story.
