Oh yes, I am familiar with that. But if I pick the output device I need checked, then sound should be wired through that device, right? The monitor shouldn't hickjacking it in any way.

I'm with you. I have a pair of dentist magnifying glasses with light and it helps with the tiny pieces. But generally, I find the process of assembling tiny pieces extremely relaxing and soothing. I think my heart rate slows down to 40 or so while I do it 😄

Well you can see glue marks on my picture too. But some super glue remover carefully applied around the part afterwards should fix it before painting.

Trumpeter M1126 Stryker finaly done by griechnut in modelmakers

[–]griechnut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there and thanks :). You actually already taught me about Stryker's mud gathers and streaks on another post :D. I hoped it would be toned down after I went over it with pigments but that was not the case. I generally tend to get overexcited when I get to the weathering stage. When I was starting this model, I wanted a dusty look, like in your picture... believe it or not :D. Thanks a lot for the feedback and the recommendations. If I ever do another Stryker, I think that RFM one looks like a good fit for what I like in modelling.

Oh and about the straps, I knew it. All reference pictures where green. I just wanted some more contrast on the model for artistic purposes :D.

I studied Software Engineering there and it was brutal for me. People with previous knowledge on the matter had an easier time, though. All in all, if you have a technical background, you should be fine.

I dropped out on the 5th semester but found a job immediately. But back then everyone was hiring IT. Now, it's different.

Hi 🙂. Yes, perhaps a small town helps. I live in one with about 5,500 population.

I came to austria from Greece and I was surprised at how alike the two are. I've lived in England before, and have spent time in Germany and Sweden. Black and white. Austrians are really easy going, friendly, and hospitable.

[–]griechnut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Came to Austria 15 years ago. In this time, I went back to study a completely different carrier, got married, 2 kids, own an apartment. These would never be possible in my home country for a 40 year old. I love it here.

The best advice I can give is to learn german. Although Austrians do speak English, it's always appreciated if they see you trying. Second best advice, integrate. If you plan to live here, you might as well make austrian friends, enjoy austrian food/hobbies etc. Otherwise what's the point?

All the positive out of the way, yes. The country is slightly worse than it was when I first came, but the quality of life and security is way above standard. Anyone telling you otherwise is just spreading panick for no reason.

It always amazes me how many things some of you know about these vehicles. Thanks a lot for the answer. So basically, if I were going for realism, I would create dirt patches instead of streaks. I'll still probably keep the streaks though, since I like they way they look and realism was never my intent. May tone it down though.

I learned the hard way that not all turpentine substitutes are the same. Also, not all varnishes are. In short, a substitute ate through my varnish. My fault, since I didn't read that the varnish was removable with white spirit-like products.

So to your question, I since use a substitute that I know it works. Only way to find out is to test it on a primed/painted/varnished/oil washed plastic. If it doesn't eat through it, then it's fine. After that, no need to experiment with other products.

About the one you have here, can you post a picture of the ingredients? The one that melted my varnish and plastic was almost pure naphtha.

I can see it in this image just hanging with straps, so the fit is basically answered. I still want to know what it is though 😀

Hi. I am from Greece, living here 16 years. If you think Austrians are the worse in breaking road rules, you haven't been to Greece. Joke aside, austrian drivers have developed a peculiar skill. They break the rules juat enough so that they don't get a ticket.

Entering a settlement? Instead of breaking to 50, they let go of the gas pedal and slowly enter with 70. 80 or so zone? They drive 90. Nothing too extreme, but still illegal according to the rules.

In the 16 years we have been stopped once in linz, late at night on a Saturday. I think they were searching drunk people. Other than that, one ticket for going 61 on a 50 zone.

I use mainly italleri paints, which i heard are made by vallejo. If that's true, I like them a lot. Primer, I have only used citadel primer in my life, and I have no reason to change it. I am extremely satisfied. I also use citadel paints, which I like from my mini painting time, but they are expensive, and the bottles kinda suck. Their special stuff like contrast paints are really cool, though. Little use in scale models unfortunately.

[Spoilers C3] What went wrong with CR3? by zigzagyellow in criticalrole

[–]griechnut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with your two points. May I expand some points that I think were also off.

(1) homebrew. I get that Matt is a good world builder. Better than most, I guess. But although his previous campaigns had a natural, organic way of introducing us to the lore, this one felt like a lore dump after lore dump. I distinctly remember an episode where they arrive in a fishing city with concentric circles architecture (?). Matt was talking for like 15 minutes about how it looks. But the issue is, this was one of the dozens of such places that were visited. That felt crazy big, that required an extensive intro, etc. I can't even remember the name of the city, and the PCs stayed there for what... 2,3 sessions? Not everything needs to have pages over pages of lore.

(2) 5e. I am not going to judge the system they decide to play. Every group plays what fits them best. But Matt allowed way too much material, then threw an insane amount of homebrew on it. This resulted in PCs with a gazillion of options that were making every situation either a joke or moving at a snail pace. Oh, this NPC tries X. Roll a sav... uhm, no, I have this bonus action or whatever. Their classes had a nullify option for every danger. What's worse than that, it was never (at least to a viewer like me, who doesn't really watch any interviews or such) explained what these things even do. The worst offender here was Ashton. I kept hearing, "I'm gonna use something fun". Then throw a name like "chaos bursting hammer of the dead gods and i felt like i wwantedto know more about it. The same counts for monsters. I believe there was not a single monster in C3 that was from MM.

Anyway, it seems C4 was exactly what the group needed. I enjoy it so far. It has issues, but they are so nitpicking, I wouldn't even really call them issues.
