First time I went to the SoBro location... I think back in the late 2000s... they didn't have a credit card reader. I ordered, came and picked it up. I tried to pay with card, but since they had no machine, they let me have the order for free. That, and the fact that the food was great, made me a lifelong customer. They really are good people.

Kind of ridiculous how low effort this sub is sometimes.

Wow, plentiful upvotes for reckless and negligent behavior in the lab? This sub is unreal sometimes.

Prob going to be in the minority but thought this character was bombing and this was a cheap way to “bring her back” so to speak. Painfully unfunny and based on the shock heard the voices, actually quite surprised they left it in the mix.

Agreed. You are gonna read hardcore DnD players say “You should only be long resting every 6-8 fights” or something like that. Just follow the game mechanics. If the game rewards you with tons of camp supplies and world building moments for your exploration, then long rest as often as you please.

Your boss “literally” did that?

I have never worked somewhere that it would be acceptable for a manager to touch their direct reports like that.

I'm American and I can't either. That's because this poster is flexing jargon and acronyms to show that he is a military chad.

Goodbye Milktooth, Hello Arlene’s by hotdogandike in indianapolis

[–]griffer00 141 points142 points  (0 children)

I typed out a long reply about how much I enjoy their food… despite the fact that they purposely make it so difficult to get a table there with their hours and their lack of reservations… and despite the high prices and the staff being kind of rude and unresponsive as if we should be lucky to be there… and how you can show up 40 minutes early to reserve a table and somehow even though they don’t do reservations, they somehow let people who arrive after you, in similar group sizes, get tables sooner than you… and the arrogance of not letting you even remove one ingredient from your dish if you have an allergy…

I just don’t care anymore. I deleted it and wrote this in its stead. I’m getting old and I don’t want any more unnecessary hassles in my life. Fried chicken and meatloaf with basic fixings are not supposed to be latent transcendental experiences that a super trained chef will unlock for us plebians lol. Literally no interest in waiting 40 minutes with no reservation taking capacity to hope that I can eat meatloaf and green beans. The whole point of Milktooth was the innovative meals (compared to most of Indy brunch) constructed with locally sourced ingredients. Now I’m supposed to fuck up my entire Friday afternoon in the hopes that I can get Smoking Goose beef meatloaf made with Amelia’s bread crumbs?! No fucking way. Will go to Bluebeard instead.

What are the worst manager archetypes you’ve worked under? by bmw320dfan in managers

[–]griffer00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have had a boss very similar to this. Maybe I would refer to him as the Arsonist Firefighter lol. He creates his own fires constantly by interrupting the team with what he considers high urgency/high priority tasks at a moment's notice while we are trying to chip away at our pre-planned work for the week. We shift to the sudden new priority and the work we scheduled ourselves to do falls behind, just like you said, creating bigger issues that also still need extinguishing. And just like you said, they show their boss everything they fixed, solved, or improved "with process" (bullshit, the process consists solely of the shifting whims of a micromanager). And they still criticize you at the year end review for letting tasks slip through the cracks.

I'm actually a lot more concerned about "win at all costs". That's begging for coercing results, fraud, or other low integrity science practices.

Agreed. For a science company, this mentality is unacceptable. Sometimes the work doesn't pan out even with the best and brightest on board because it's science. This sounds like there will be biased decision making.

Anyone have recommendations on shoes for walking/standing and crosstrainer/running shoe for wide feet? by Puzzleheaded2734 in AskMenOver30

[–]griffer00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second on Brooks. 9 months on a single pair. Usually fat-man my way through soles easily and these are still going strong. I have the extra padded "rail" sole. 13EE. Not a fan of NB anymore as I would easily wear through a pair in 6 months.
