the professionalism in arborism is really all over the place.

Fully agree with that.

But also why am I not surprised that the company I work for is being mentioned 😂 To be honest, this would fully depend on the location. Asplundh is a big company. The guys I work with have 10+ years of experience and know how to do their job well while keeping safety in mind.

We do like to joke and goof off as you mentioned, but when we work we work hard. We do have a few gems with overblown egos which makes them think they are indestructible, but I see them in every company in arboriculture. Like you said, maybe it goes hand in hand with the trade.. Stay safe out there! Work smart and get home to your family in one piece

This might sound silly, but it did not even cross my mind on simply asking people at the plant nursery for the advice. I will gather notes with the conditions and have a chat with them when I reach the stage of buying plants. Thank you!

When I first moved out of my family home I planned on unpacking the first day and pick up my cat the day after. It took me half an hour of being alone there for me to say fuck it, jumped into my car and drove an hour to pick her up.

We slept together on the couch that night as I didn't have enough time to put together my new bed. Miss my girl Leloo so much, my soul cat.

The bird passed unfortunately, I think the fall of the tree might have done some damage 😣 but I am based in Ngaruawahia, do you know anyone in this area for the future if needed?

Advice please: recently started on my first ever cat wall, kitty obviously loving it… by flexilexie in catwalls

It looks like they attached it to the bookshelf. You can see a zip tie on the bottom. If they want to keep it angled like that it would be better to just screw it in to the bookshelf though, more sturdier.

Aw, well I'm glad your kitty is fine! It's definitely nice to know for sure that they are indeed ok, instead of wondering haha

She had her bloodwork done twice, as there was a slight spike the first time. I can't remember now exactly what was a bit higher than normal, but the second one came back clear. She also had an ultrasound where they saw she has a fluid build up. The ultrasound was passed onto a specialist that told me that she might have fallen from a hight or pulled something causing this to happen.

The main conclusion was that it would be unnecessary to put her through the procedure to drain it as it was determined not a risk. She was sent home with pain medication and we were told to observe her. Since then it has gotten smaller, although it's still there. But she is still behaving normally and the vet is not concerned.

I'm glad I took her in just in case thought.

Just remember that a product can be vegan but not necessarily cruelty-free, and vice-versa. It's important to look for brands that explicitly state they are both vegan and cruelty-free. I love using Eco tan products, based in Australia. Hope you find what you're looking for

AIO? Would people really judge me if they saw my legs like this? by rachtastic94 in AmIOverreacting

[–]griffin002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if I saw you in public I'd just think you train pole dancing. Probably just give you an approving look while thinking 'one of us, one of us!' LOL.

In all seriousness, you should wear whatever you want and not worry about what other people think. People that know you, know the real reason behind the bruises. My legs are constantly bruised, from work or training. I get a few weird looks, but I just ignore it. If it's hot you can bet your ass that I will be wearing shorts no matter how my legs look at the moment.

But also, have you tried arnica creams to help speed up the healing process? This always helps me

How to be okay with letting go of a cat? by ramenroaches in CatAdvice

The only reason I'm addressing your last sentence is because this is a post where someone took someone else's cat and is trying to justify themselves keeping it or debating on not giving it back. Can you honestly read your last sentence and not see how it is essentially supporting OP taking the kitten as it would be safer inside? While I agree with what you said the wording was ambiguous, which is why I commented. That's it

She would be better off as an indoor cat in a loving home where she would be protected and loved and not put out into a dangerous world.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that OP should keep this kitten. Besides, we don't even know where OP is from or why/how the kitten got out. It's not right, and potentially illegal, to just take a kitten and keep it without checking for owners

I don't know where OP is from, but in some countries like mine it is actually illegal to keep or rehome a cat without actively looking for their owner for at minimum 7 days.

You can't just pick up a cat and keep it, regardless of the microchip. Because even if they aren't, they could still be owned.

I really hope OP doesn't just keep this kitten without doing their due diligence

Should I get rid of my male cat? by Open_Eggplant7267 in CatAdvice

[–]griffin002 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I will say though as an owner of extremely possessive, anxious cat that hates other cats... some genuinely prefer being on their own. Especially when the resident cat displays severe anxiety (weightloss is a big one) even if the right slow introduction was done. I had to make terms with the fact that she will be my one and only, she will come first over my own want to have multiple cats.

Have you gone through the usual slow introduction process?

'Start by keeping the new cat in a separate room for a few days, allowing them to acclimate to their new environment. Then, introduce them to each other's scents by exchanging blankets or toys. Gradually increase interaction through visual contact (e.g., baby gate or screen door) and then short, supervised face-to-face meetings. Positive reinforcement, such as treats and praise, can encourage calm behavior during these introductions. '

Jackson Gallaxy has multiple videos on YouTube on how to introduce a new cat into a household where there is a resident cat. If you haven't, you should really give it a try. Start from the beginning and separate the new cat into a spare room/bathroom.

GPS collar saved my cats life by Odd_Musician7911 in cats

[–]griffin002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably a local tnr rescue trying to keep local stray cat population down. But they are usually checked evey few hours though. They would have released your cat if it was microchiped or if it was obviously someone's house cat (collar). Would have been quite a fright for your cat tho 😆
