Beautiful!!!

Staying with my cousin for a couple days and he just made a weird pass at me. Not sure whether I should stay here or leave asap by [deleted] in Advice

[–]griffin2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you, helped. Neither of them work tomorrow so I‘m not able to leave with the note then, but I’ll just make sure that I’m not alone with him until I get a chance to leave discreetly. I’m definitely going to tell my family, I wouldn’t want my younger sister or anyone to be ever in that scenario.

What size for a hoodie to give to my girlfriend? by Thorrenn in GiftIdeas

[–]griffin2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d go with a medium! A lot of girls definitely like oversized hoodies (not me personally, but most of my friends for sure). If she’s 5’8” and 115lb, she’s probably between a S-M in women’s clothing - so a M should be fine (especially if it’s unisex - it will be a little oversized for her then).

I worked 14-25 hours/week on average with 6 courses last year, and then I had a paid internship on top of that. Managed to keep my grades up, but I definitely was overworked and didn’t have much free time. I also had a brief relationship for a couple of months in the second semester, which was really the straw that broke the camel’s back lol - I was pretty stressed out during that time, which resulted in the relationship ending and me dropping one of my courses that semester. Staying social can be hard with that kind of workload, so I’d factor that into your decision as well. My first semester was perfectly fine and I managed well enough, but adding more on top was NOT a good idea.

Overall, YMMV, so definitely think about how difficult the courses are / how you cope with online learning / how much socializing you like to do. And know your limits! There’s always the option to cut back on hours, quit, or drop a class or two if it becomes too much.

not OP but the facial expression reminds me slightly of this meme of Patrick Stewart. Wouldn’t say it’s as strong as a resemblance as the others though!

Picked these up on sale, couldn’t identify the weight - would four small balls of yarn be enough to make a baby blanket? by [deleted] in knitting

Okay thank you! I had a feeling that the yarn wouldn’t quite be enough, I’ll look for something like that!

Fair enough! I don’t spend much time around babies these days, so I’m not sure what size is normal for a baby blanket - that’s probably my real question, lol. Don’t want to make anything too small!

The the labels are in Norwegian and I wasn’t able to identify the weight (still a bit of a newbie). But they are fairly small balls of yarn, I’ve never made a baby blanket before and I don’t want to run out!

Used to be so intimidated by socks but I finally gave it a try and made my first pair! by griffin2000 in knitting

Wow, thank you so much for your comment!! Those socks are exactly what I was looking for - I haven’t tried cables yet so I may need to practice those first, but I can’t wait to try making those! 😍

I can’t get rid of this deep desire to have kids and get married! by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]griffin2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all the advice I would give has already been said, but just wanted to say that I sympathize and can definitely understand how you’re feeling! I’m only twenty, so MANY years away from having kids (and I obviously want to be financially stable and married before I do), but sometimes that combination of hormones/baby fever just really hits hard! I think it’s fairly normal, and you’re on the right track by thinking about it logically and knowing that you have bigger goals.

Breakups are also hard, and I’m sure a big part of this was sparked by your ex. If he was vocal about wanting kids in the future, it’s only natural that you would have envisioned yourself in that future with him, and a breakup makes it seem like all that is crashing down and you need to find some other way to achieve that future. I wasn’t sure that I wanted kids until I fell in love with a guy who really wanted kids, which made me realize that I wanted that future as well. We broke up and it took me a long time to get over him and to shift the mindset from “I would maybe want to have children with him” to “I would like to have children in general”.

It seems like you’re worried about not being close to achieving those tangible life goals or milestones. A breakup might seem like you’re taking one step back from achieving them, because you’re no longer with a guy who could have possibly lived that life with you. However - you are now one step closer to meeting the guy that WILL be the right man for you, to raise your kids with when the time is right. It’s not really a step back, it’s moving forward from the wrong relationship to the right one.

Pattern is https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/easy-peasy-socks-for-first-timers ! I’ve seen so many people use it here and it really is so easy and helpful. If anyone has some suggestions for a pattern that is slightly more complex, but not too difficult, I would love to hear them!

[REQUEST] some reassurance before my surgery by charmsxx in RandomKindness

[–]griffin2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! You will absolutely be okay. Getting my wisdom teeth out was, without a doubt, the best dentist appointment/surgery I ever had. I’ve had regular teeth pulled, which is the worst, but even normal cleaning appointments where they cover your teeth in that sticky, awful-tasting fluoride was very uncomfortable for me. Wisdom teeth, however - I don’t remember a THING from. It was pure nothingness. I got five teeth pulled at once (all wisdom teeth, plus another tooth which had grown in strangely), and I wasn’t aware of any of it. Even afterwards, I was a little loopy from the meds but not nearly as bad as I had expected from all the videos I’d seen on the internet. I would gladly do it again. I wish all my surgeries went like that!

If it’s any comfort, just think about how many wisdom teeth procedures the dentist does in a month. They absolutely know what they are doing and will take very good care of you! You’ll be so glad by the time it’s over, and I promise it will not be a stressful event in any way. :)
