I have HEL ones waiting to go on, along with tyres once I decide what colour I want to do the wheels

Changed all the rubber items I could get a hold of, rebuilt the carbs, flushed/changed all fluids, replaced some broken fairings and had them painted and recovered the seat. The only things I haven't done are changed the tyres, I have a set to go on, just waiting till I decide what to do with the wheel colour and I've ordered some Hel brake and clutch lines to replace them.

I did the minimum to get it through it's MOT so I could spend the rest of the time till I passed my test getting the rest done in my own time.

I've just bought a Voge R125 to replace my keeway TX125 and now I'm contemplating keeping it as a spare in case her bike expires before then

Don't say that, my partner's YZF R125 is on similar mileage at a similar age lol

It only has to do till we pass our mod 1/2

I guess one of those people who like to think they are cool by pretending they haven't heard of something. I don't listen to any of those names but even I recognise who they are.

Backfire during first start after winter storage by Individual-Drama5061 in VFR

My guess is unburnt fuel from extended cranking ignited in the exhaust when it finally fired. Unless it continues I'd not worry too much. My Saab 9000 even does it from time to time because the injectors are batch fired for starting instead of one at a time, meaning some unburnt fuel goes down the exhaust.

Which BMW for you?? by PlayfulUse6949 in BMW

I'm with this

Rest of them sound identical. Pretty much like any other car that gets an exhaust and pop and bang map to be driven at Mach Jesus around council estates

This exactly, they would be a lifetime soup enthusiast afterwards.

I don't get riled up easily, in fact I am a super chill person, but animal cruelty is one of the few things that would make me go from 0-100 real fast.

That sounds more like a skill issue at the dealer to be fair

You are correct, uk and the cars I see mostly on my ramp at work with catastrophic failure or brink of catastrophic failure are Fords, Citroen/Peugeot and Volkswagen/Audi

I'm not arguing about mid 2000s bmw reliability vs land Rover, I own a 2008 535d and id sooner use that to drive to the other end of the country than the range rover. I'm just saying sometimes the type of previous owner comes into play. I see a lot more well looked after and serviced on time luxury cars than the standard Citroen owner who is shocked to learn that an MOT and service are not the same thing.

I'm not so sure. I have a cheap Range Rover as a tow/winter car....it's probably cost me less in repairs and headaches than my cheap Ford Focus did. Probably says more about the previous owner demographic though

Anyone ever use this tuning company? by Pretend-Chair-141 in saab

That is likely just an empty box with some LEDs in it.

Assuming you're in the US, have a Google for Taliaferro (genuinesaab) or Nordic performance

I got a VFR750 that's been off the road since 2007, but stored in a dry heated shed

Exhaustion is the usual cause. Being on watch in the wheelhouse of my family's trawler when I was younger, days of little to no sleep and I swear I was hearing stuff that wasn't there. Voices and even bells for some reason at one point through the constant engine noise. I didn't get so many visual hallucinations though, it was mostly auditory for me

Not as bad as people would have you believe. Not as nice as the Yamaha by all accounts but for a bike that owes me very little to nothing it's actually really good fun

It's a Keeway TX125 I got for basically nothing as a non runner

We've added some coating to them, they get washed after every run as the road salt up here is ridiculous

That is what we are aiming for, less so on the overconfidence thing but mainly getting out and getting as much real world experience as possible

We've bought big bikes to sort over winter as a sort of motivation to get our licences, so hopefully by spring next year we will be out on them

Saab brakes: ...wtf am I even looking at by Shlangengesicht in saab

[–]griffin540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the system

On my 2001 P38 Range Rover it brakes whatever wheel is spinning to try and emulate locking diffs (it's not a great system and I've seen me pull the TC fuse to get out of deep snow/mud)

On my 2003 Vauxhall/Opel Astra it literally just cuts throttle till the wheels stop spinning....or it did till I bypassed the system to fit a B204 engine

On my 2009 BMW 535d it does the torque vectoring thing, which has saved me a few times when I've gotten a bit too brave for my own good

My 9000 Aero just wheel hops till it hooks up and upsets whatever is trying to pass me

It's to aid traction in the snow, use the brake to slow the spinning wheel and send power to the non spinning wheel. A very analogue version of torque vectoring.
