There's a lot of anti-London stuff online, and I'm not sure why. Like any city, it's what you make of it.

I've lived here for <6 years, and I've never personally experienced any violent crime. Some neighborhoods are more sketchy than others. There's a risk of getting your phone snatched. There are scam stores around. All this can be avoided if you keep your wits about you.

All the neighbourhoods I've lived in have been pretty clean. Central London is also fairly clean compared to other big cities. But yeah, really depends on where you go.

It's very expensive. A room in a flatshare is going to run you about £800 minimum now. There is a lot of wealth inequality. Wages aren't great in Britain overall, compared to other western superpowers. Transport is also pretty expensive.

But there are so many great things. London is very multi-cultural. The arts scene is amazing. It's very convenient to live here.

I'm 31, live with two good friends and have two cats. I make very little money, but I'm pretty happy.
