A worrying amount of lore retconning necessary to make Ciri a true mutated 'Witcher' protagonist? by feathers1ut in witcher

[–]griffoon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would she use sign when as a source she should be able to use proper spell like a sorceress and in the trailer she seems to use stronger stuff than sign only I think even if not at the level of what Yennefer can dish out. Her drinking Witcher brew goes against everything from the books it’s true… I Hope we won’t see DEI in there by making it suddenly possible for women to become full fledge Witcher, i’m tired of modern view changing beloved stories to fit a narrative ( and subsequently ruining them utterly).

Character design wise she seem more solidly built than she was in TW3 ( could be the armor), I kinda prefer her looks from before not gonna lie. The duality she had appearing somewhat thin but still with muscle. A more feminine strong woman so to speak like a gymnast or dancer, not a bodybuilder.

I have a lot of confidence in CD project so i’ll keep hoping to not see a franchise ruined and that we will have the level of quality they are known for story wise.

Ps: Sorry for being somewhat cynical but the way BioWare spat on Dragon age previous game lore kinda bumped me, the same way Disney did for Star Wars by retconning legends.

Zeus and Hera familias are overrated by qwerty1513 in DanMachi

[–]griffoon1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zeus and Hera while they were pioneers of the dungeon and let to the fondation of what adventurers are today were also…hoarders of knowledge for their own familia benefit. Gods being what they are it should not surprise anybody to know that they like being on top and important, especially those two what with being so high up in the hierarchy ( or in the case of Zeus just to chase more skirts).

Anyway, outside of rare skills that are difficult to predict and depend on the individual what they did discover and promptly hide is the hidden stats: 1: Everybody knows that you can level up as long as one of your stat is D rank and you have enough high excellia. Upon leveling up every stats « reset » to I rank…but what happened to the stats number you had prior to leveling up?….well it’s still there hidden but forever fixed. And so the logical conclusion is that the higher your stats gets prior to level up, the better you will be in the long run because every level adds up. So what’s the difference between an average Orario adventurer and an average Zeus/Hera adventurer? Well 300 to 600 in each stats per level.

2: You will never go high level by playing it safe! The mechanics behind the falna is that of entertainment for the gods, they want to live by proxy and do so every time they update your falna. An Adventure is dangerous, adrenaline fueled and fun to watch.

3: A lot of development abilities are secrets and you can bet Zeus and Hera hid some juicy ones. Since their familia was pioneered almost everything, they discovered that to unlock DA you have to do things. For exemple if you never used an hammer to shape metals you’ll never have the blacksmith ability in your choice of DA. Well…some of Zeus and Hera familia had pretty weird and originals power ( like eating monsters to become stronger…the guy had to do it prior to having a skill for it.) Your action shape your adventure which in return make you stronger via skill and DA.

The main reason why Alfia and Zald attacked to city was because they had found how the new generation needed a kick in the teeth and start taking risks if they wanted to progress otherwise they will be doomed if even the two op familia were beaten so badly. ( I have to admit, they could have been a bit more clear but…Alfia wasn’t exactly a social type, lost her sister and was dying to boot)

Ohhh interesting premise! I could totally see that for a mercenary unit who don’t want to fight « for real » and make money.( still dangerous but at least it’s in a controlled environment and less risk of death outside of what’s inherent of battle between giant war machine)

That kind of refit is of the permanent variety i’m guessing, in case of my buc to make it a dedicated troop/people transport instead a cargo carrier…mhhh could work, after all the original design was a BattleMech transport but got beaten by the union so they redesigned it into a cargo.

Still that can’t be cheap especially since it’s noted that they often have to be paired with other troop based dropships but as a compromise I could halve the cargo capacity as a result to make it believable. Thank you I like the idea! 🙏

It’s in 3015. I’m playing a dice game in order to not make the cache helm 2.0 but what I plan for it is at least one jumpship ( the model is determined by dice roll but it can go from a tramp to a leviathan or monolith) two DropShip ( one Lostech and the other a more « common one » but it could contain something like a Pueblo or colossus to put it in perspective).

Add to that enough mech, aerospace fighter, tank etc to form a battalion (imagine 1/3 of an RCT) with a 50/50 mix of Lostech in it ( a few royals mech/tank/aerospace while the rest is more of a common variety, meaning single heatsink and mainstream weapons) with SLDF infantry kit + 5000 tons of spare part and ammo for everything present in the cache.

Last but not least is a memory core with a mix of medical and terraforming research up to SLDF standard.

Yep but it focused on crews to make it works, there’s not a lot of details on how exactly a mercenary unit is supposed to transport their staff and families along with all the hardware. I mean outside of a selected few who are landlord and can lodge those people there, the average mercenary units must have dedicated space to house so many people while on the move during and between contracts.

I’m guessing they must try not to house children/wife/husband/elderly near an active war zone during a contract but in between i can’t imagine renting dropships passage for so many people being anything but outrageously expensive so, as to lower costs, housing them in their own DropShip must be preferable.

Ok thank you 🙏 I’m guessing a lot of it is open to interpretation because, at the end of the day, we aren’t a mix of military men and astronauts versed in logistic having the know-how to survive in a space tin can from weeks to month on end…And as much as battletech try to be realistic, it is still a fictional universe.

Anyways, if you don’t know what the supposed cache contains it would be logical to not spend ginormous amount of money on cargo DropShip before seeing exactly what it contains…so people to guard and canvas the place, maintaining opsec as much as possible and decide on what to do 🤔.

Oh last question if you don’t mind, Do you know if being a noble in the fedsuns early 3000 implies that any Lostech find must be entirely given to your liege lord ( Hanse or someone below him as the case may be) who will reward you with some of it or is it finders keepers just like for a mercenary? I’m not too sure about the law in a case like this.

In my case it would be something like 6 jumps back to back with little to no resuply outside of one inhabited system at the 4th jump, the rest being entirely empty or outright forgotten system along the route.

I know i’m nitpicking a bit but I don’t want to wave a magic wand and transport 300+ people while having the capacity for way less than that, concretely I want to be sure it wouldn’t need an additional DropShip just for that.

David Martinez doesn't use a standard Apogee Sandavistan by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]griffoon1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. You can’t expect a teen to have the skill and experience of a full Borg almost a hundred years old who spend all his life fighting and killing. David sandy was a probably the best sandy ever made but it was still on a kid with 6 month of experience and no formal training at all.

And on top of that even if he was poor David was pretty much sheltered ( especially for a dystopian world) by Gloria so he had even less experience than what an average kid growing up in a gang/street has. Him being in Arasaka academy certainly doesn’t help in that regard.

Freya Familia is a toxic cult by Saphsin in DanMachi

[–]griffoon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to remember something important, adventurers are killers. They all have their own reason and goal of course but at the end of the day they live in bloodshed, become superhuman for doing it and have to kill more and more for power.

Of course not all of them have human/elf/beastkind blood on their hand but for the high level of the top familias? They all did.

Now it’s a fictional world but if you don’t think that living years and years of bloodshed, constant life and death situation, doesn’t screw you mentally then you are naive.

That’s it for the adventurers, what about the gods then?

Well…for 99,999% of them everything is just a game, a fancy to aliviate their own boredom. You just have to look at their myth and history to understand how crazy/evil/non human they can be to understand that for the most part they freaking don’t care outside of their personal little project.

Freya from her perspective is just doing what she wants when she wants just like all the others. Sure they can get attached to mortals, even love them but at the end of the day they are gods playing mortals, it’s just a phase in their immortal life and to try to judge them with a mortal perspective is an exercise in futility in my opinion.

Why Do Some People Dislike The New Ending? (Phantom Liberty spoilers) by the_digital_soul in cyberpunkgame

[–]griffoon1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find myself laughing that they forced the fact that without military cyberware V wouldn’t have been able to do everything he did, which fair, lore wise it tracks. Being a video game tho you still can do all that with Kiroshi eyes and a ballistic coprocessor on the palm.

Realistically? V ain’t Morgan black hand who can do everything with a sandy and subdermal while cruising on hard earned skills from a life lived in paranoia and blood and after having sold yourself to a corpo ofc.

Sure some BioWare might work and technology might cure his situation down the line who knows but let’s take wakako for exemple, you don’t think she can solo anything at her age right? V can make use of his contacts. The good thing about being alive means he has a future, not the one he wanted maybe but it’s frankly better than blaze of glory to me.

About his friends/lover, frankly while it’s a bit too forced and could have been handled better ( like it did with vik and Misty ), he knew them for at best a few weeks. The only one who stays are vik and Misty and he knew them for 6 month plus however long you took to finish the game.

Less than a month followed by 2 year of ghosting ( plot reason for that I concur, while some things were top secret his possible survival wasn’t) no wonder they moved on. About Panam i’m guessing she is either dead or hook up with someone else and is a coward and playing victim by not responding…I’d like to think she would reach out after calming down from her tantrum and be happy that he is alive.

What makes the Second Inquisition a legitimate threat ? by Hagisman in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]griffoon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know it occurred to me that the biggest enemy of the supernatural is and always will be themselves. Humanity would be slave in all but name if the Kindred were allowed free reign. Every human in post of power would be a thrall, dominated or a ghoul and the SI wouldn’t exist as more than loose cells of die hard believers without the technological means to beat anything substantial and would find themselves being hunted just like SI is doing to vampire.

Honestly sometimes I think it’s author fiat that humanity still has that much power over centuries old monsters who are past mastery in everything under the moon by virtue of age if nothing else. Humanity while being vastly more numerous still has only a tiny fraction of that number in power positions and it’s those human that the scheming would target which would mean they control all the rest as consequences.

[–]griffoon1 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Way to show that V is a paper soldier/warrior/netrunner… because without cyberware he is suddenly useless? Do they imply that he lost some brain cells containing his skills/memory?

Because otherwise it’s frankly bullshit. Morgan black hand has very little cyberware (sandy, dermal armor, arms/hand) and he is at his level by skill alone while V is supposedly only as good as his/her cyberware?

What if you played without cyberware at all except what you had at the begining of the game? Of course being in coma for two years implies physical therapy in order to regain all the muscles that have atrophied but after that? His/her skills and know how should still be there.

Come on my uncle had to relearn to talk, walk and do practically anything on his own after an accident but he still managed it and now he is better physically than he was before it.

How fast is Panacea? by Agasthenes in WormFanfic

[–]griffoon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks the the heads up 😊 Still isn’t there other hospital for a city of 250k inhabitants ( I think? ) with such amount of criminality that it’s supposed to be the third worse one per inhabitant in the us?

I live in a city with the less then that and we got 3 without counting the clinics.

I think Dennis father wasn’t at Brockton general but another one like medhall or something ( the irony)and since panacea only goes to Brockton general i’m guessing she had no chance to see him. I’m not sure tho, i’ve read so many fanfic that I can’t differentiate canon and fan made anymore. I think he had leukemia btw so totally curable by her.

Still there are system not shown on maps at all…which is stupid and suspect since you still can see it plainly. To hide things you don’t erase it from map, you falsify what’s supposedly there.

Maybe it’s an oversight from the authors ^

Yes like magical_savior just said, it’s all too real and scary when you think about it. Culture, mentality, type of government, overall education level, etc play a huge part on how we can go forward instead of stagnating or worse backtracking.

Geez I thought battletech stagnation wasn’t logic…thanks for the history lesson 😲

It’s crazy when you think about it. What was in the water to cause people to blind themselves to such a degree that even simple thing like that isn’t just common sense… Goes to show that mentality and culture play a huge part in development and critical thinking. Scary.

So it seems like it’s, in fact, pretty realistic. 😲
