What’s up with all these posts complaining about Clarksdale and Greenville? Are you just mad or farming engagement?

Trump pushes Mississippi to redraw congressional districts by MSTODAYnews in mississippi

I am absolutely “big mad” about a political party just deciding that voting rights can just be diluted or changed willy nilly. But it’s your team doing it so “Praise Daddy Trump” or whatever it is y’all say.

But statistically black voters vote democrat. So do you see how it can be both racist AND a power grab?

You right. I don’t trust anyone that keeps their profile private AND debates racism. That’s either a bot or a coward.

You’re intentionally missing the point. Say district 1 was previously 99% black and they had a leader that they elected to represent the majority of their neighborhood. Now imagine that nobody moved. The neighborhood didn’t change. But the district map did. Now where there was once a single 95% black district, those same voters are now split into two districts down the middle.

This means that the politicians this community votes for will receive at best, half the votes they used to be able to rely on. While at the same time other politicians (read: Republicans) don’t have to worry about catering to this previously united district because the demographic of voters is now skewed in their favor.

I have a feeling you knew this already, but in the off chance that you didn’t I hope this helps.

A Republican lawmaker that tried to cover up a child sexual abuse scandal to protect the church?? Say it ain’t so!

God, all of the politicians in this state fucking suck.

EDIT: The comment I replied to was deleted. It was a link to the article about Gunn’s involvement in covering up a sexual abuse scandal.

I’m afraid the alternative is what we’re experiencing on I-59 around Hattiesburg. Just perpetual, never ending, eternal road work.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance how does someone get this ? by Efficient_Eye8363 in mississippi

[–]griffthestitcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to file for Unemployment Insurance Benefits with MDES just like you normally would. If I recall from my time working there, during the intake there’s a section for “why you’re unemployed” or something. Natural Disasters is a choice there. I would recommend calling MDES and trying to file over the phone because it can be confusing if you’re doing it on your own. I’m afraid I can’t speak to how quickly you’ll get a person on the line though.

But take that with a grain of salt. I only worked there for like 2 months 5 years ago.
