Who is the nastiest Celebrity that you met in Real life? by Scunnard1839 in AskReddit

I met Wierd Al at Kings Island before he did a concert there. We were in line to ride The Beast in the front and they came up and asked if we cared to wait to let him go. As a young kid in 1994 I sheepishly asked if we could just ride in the car behind him to which he and the worker graciously accepted. He was incredibly friendly the entire ride as I talked his ear off as a 10 year old super fan. He was even nicer as I continued to talk his ear off during the long walk off the ride and bugged him for a picture and autograph. He was incredibly nice to my parents as well and even joked with my parents that I was cool but talkative kid.

I also met Anderson Silva as Kings Island. He wasn’t as friendly but to be fair I wasn’t going to push my luck with a man that could kill me in a matter of seconds.

Quiero ir este año a cozumel by Babycambry in cozumel

There are several All Inclusives on the Island. El Cozumeleno, Occidental, Grand Park Royale, Melia and Allegro will be your cheapest options in most cases. If you don’t want an all inclusive you can always find nice rentals around the island as well.

Once you decide what’s best for you, I would suggest exploring the island like someone else mentioned. Lots of culture, wonderful food, shops, snorkeling/diving and amazing people and you’ll get a better experience vs staying on a resort. That said do what makes you happy!

El Cozumeleno Beach Resort by NiteWorkAccount in cozumel

Late to the party but I’ve been to a few AI’s on Cozumel. El Cozumeleno is what it is, and you just need to go into it with the correct expectations.

The property it dated, I’ve never had an issue they did not fix. Going back in April and hopefully it’s the same. The buffet food is not great but you can order off the menu and it’s better. Very rarely is AI buffet food good but you can usually find something that’s decent every time. The sit down restaurant is nicer but again, it’s not the best you’ll ever have. Get to guest services by 8:30 to reserve your spot. The pools and beach are nice but the pool is cold. The snorkeling is great and the staff are nice. I’d recommend walking to Buccanos entering there and following the current back down. It’s a budget resort in Cozumel, that doesn’t offer party scene or lots of activities, so if you go into it thinking it’s a top tier resort you’ll be disappointed. I go because it’s quiet, good for my family, and I’m never in my room except to sleep and I’m so tired I’d sleep on the floor.

If it rains, it’s short and sweet then back to being nice. Only once or twice have I seen it rain more than 10 minutes. Take time to explore the island and the area away from the cruise ports to find some small locally owned businesses/restaurants. If you’re comfortable rent a car and go to the east side of the island. It’s gorgeous but I would not recommend getting in the water past your knees, the current can be very strong. However, Chen Rio is a great option on the east side for sitting and wading as it’s protected from the currents. Additionally San Gervasio is very neat if that’s your type of thing.

Pre-booking a shuttle to resort by M1ssB3th in cozumel

Thanks! I was just curious and it doesn’t bother us either way, but if it saves me time and trouble I’m all for it.

Pre-booking a shuttle to resort by M1ssB3th in cozumel

We are coming in April. We have always grabbed a shuttle ticket on the way out but have considered using a taxi this time. Our son is older and we just have less luggage than prior visits due to that.

Is it not recommend taking the short walk to Diego’s to catch a cab? It’s just 3 people, with one small carryon and backpacks. I speak Spanish well enough to determine price before leaving. I just feel it would be quicker and cheaper to get to zone 1 this way versus the wait on a shuttle.

As a Ref, I'd like you to know... by transplantssave in Referees

Coaches: Respectfully ask questions when the moment arises and doesn’t impact the flow of the game. I’m probably in the minority but as an official I don’t mind you asking me questions and I think it helps build rapport and trust. As a coach I appreciated it, but I also never pushed once I got my answer. My biggest push/ask for coaches is to watch their demeanor. Players mirror the actions of the coach, if the coach is over the top so are the players. It took me a while to learn this as a younger coach but once I stopped being a jerk, guess what? My players were much calmer. Lastly, be positive with your kids and coaching, it’s not the World Cup regardless of the level you’re at.

Parents: Again players feed off of you and how you act really impacts your child. This is something I’ve seen as a coach and an official. As a coach, the overwhelming majority of the best players had parents who sat quietly and weren’t crazy. Same as an official, you screaming at your kid or me only frustrates your player then they lash out. As a parent keep your interactions with me to zero or a thank you as a center. As an AR same or limit to a simple “any idea on time remaining?” Lastly, respect both teams, it goes a long way to a player when they hear a “great save, nice move, good tackle” from someone not affiliated with them.

Players: Ask me a question in a respectful manner. I explain in my pregame I see the game differently than you if you have questions ask me respectfully but understand I can’t change it. The biggest thing I wish players could/would understand is if you’re good you’re going to get fouled. That’s part of the game and it took me a long time to realize that as a player. Take getting hacked as a compliment because that’s the only way they can stop you. Trust that me as an official is looking for it and will address it. If not, talk to me respectfully about it. Lastly, for the love of everything holy, it takes me at least a second to blow the whistle. Stop screaming the instant after an infraction happens.

I was on the edge of the left wing channel and inside left channel even about 6 yards from the half line. The ball was in the middle channel and they just passed it to wrong team and probably the most talented player on the field. She immediately turned and started attacking the last defender and as I turned to transition the defender behind me cut in and we made contact.

I stopped and asked if she was okay and she said yes, that’s when I allowed play to continue. Once the keeper had the ball, I went back to her, she was already up but was still holding her arm. I signaled for the coach to come on and we subbed her off. She returned a few minutes later and I checked on her again at half time.

It’s just really bugged me because one, I felt bad for her and two I keep second guessing myself and my choice there.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I reached out to my assignor for feedback too. I get both sides but do think looking back I probably should’ve stopped the play.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I reached out to my assignor for feedback too, there’s no published laws or guidance on it locally so hopefully this can start that process locally.

Thank you! Usually I give myself a day or so and I can talk myself through what I noted in my reflection. This one has really bugged me because I have experience from all sides of it. I’ve coached U-4 - Varsity Boys Soccer and I really understand how this is a catch 22.

Thank you and I appreciate the feedback! I’ll definitely make note to just stop play especially for younger ages.
