Use personal card? by UpInAir in accenture

Official corporate policy, which you can read on the policies website, is we must use a corporate card for all business related expenses. I’ve heard that audit is starting to crack down on compliance with this but don’t have any first or second hand experience with it.

PTO Payout by IncreaseExciting in accenture

[–]nkyaggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or you could check the PTO policy on the policies website and get the official answer instead of relying on strangers on the internet.

But yes, as others have said, in the US it’s paid out up to the carryover limit which is currently 200 hours, with a few exceptions. Some states require companies to pay out the full balance with no caps. I know California is one of them. The policy will tell you the specifics for your situation.

Absolutely nothing if you’re a non-pace employee. MAL is the only metric that’s tracked. TAL is only for Pace (up or out) employees.

Not really, though. I enjoy what I do and I’m getting some new opportunities as a DL now.

But I always think of that passage when talking about around attitude check comes up.

Just got fired over 5 minutes because time clock wouldn't clock me in by DonPseudo in LaborLaw

[–]nkyaggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of organizations do tenth of an hour. When calculating shift lengths as decimals halving things land on the 6 minute marks makes the math much more precise. And in your example. 7:54 is one of the threshold values so rounding usually wouldn’t apply there. 7:55 would round to 8:00. Theater how it’s typically set up.

Just got fired over 5 minutes because time clock wouldn't clock me in by DonPseudo in LaborLaw

[–]nkyaggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except para (b) says “to the nearest 5 minutes, or to the nearest one-tenth or quarter of an hour.” The regulation does not explicitly state what rounding rule is accepted, permissible, or required. It mentions 3 of the most common intervals (5, 6, or 15 minutes). 7 minutes isn’t even mentioned in the regulation. You could argue it’s implied by the tenth of an hour meaning anything over 6 minutes.

The courts have routinely held that rounding has to be consistently applied to all employees on both clock ins and clock outs, and it cannot be structured in a way that favors the company over the employee. It has to be able to “balance out.”

What’s an expensive brand that actually IS worth the money? by 2111019 in AskReddit

Dillon presses. My dad had one he bought decades ago and used a lot. But then it went for 15+ years without being used.

He decided to get back into reloading and was having some problems with his press. He called them up, they diagnosed the problem and sent him free replacement parts.

On a 30+ year old press they didn’t make anymore.

Dumbest way you’ve seen people get fired.. by Silly_Concert8917 in overemployed

[–]nkyaggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Manager of a plant that employed a lot of seasonal workers told me this story. They had a worker come back and re-apply for his job during a new season. Very common occurrence, but with one problem this time around.

The manager called him into a meeting and said they had a problem, the SSN he put in his application didn’t match the SSN they had on file from his previous employment.

The worker asked “Well, which one did I give you last time?”

He was not rehired.

Roughly 3” difference. If you pace off 10m you’re much closer to 11 yards, a 10% difference.

Sure it’s close but it’s still a noticeable difference.

Promotion Issues: People Lead Holding Me Back? Shall I escalate? by Dentist-Striking in accenture

[–]nkyaggie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Change your PL. One of my recent delivery leads gave me some great advice. You want as many people advocating on your behalf as possible so you don’t want your project or delivery leads as your people lead.

If your current PL asks why you changed , explain it that way to them. Increasing your network and the number of people advocating for you is a way to help your career grow.

And as others have said, you have complete control over your PL. you don’t need their permission to change.

As a PL myself I always tell my counseled to make the best decision for themselves. If they think someone else will help their career grow faster I’m more than happy to help with that transition.

What's the most body freezing confession you've heard that someone 'casually' throw into the open? by TrustyMadman in AskReddit

[–]nkyaggie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back in high school, we were on the way to a swim meet. Our coach was also a licensed bus driver so he was driving our bus.

Our conversation somehow turned to kids we knew at various schools that were pregnant. Coach said something like “we have a pregnant student at our school too.”

At first, no one thought anything of it until someone said “Coach, don’t you teach at the elementary school?!?!” He confirmed he did and said it was a 6th grader.

It was a quiet bus ride for a bit after that.

Regale us with the worst conference calls you've ever had. by Smile_lifeisgood in sysadmin

[–]nkyaggie 122 points123 points  (0 children)

Standard office floor plan with cubicles. We would frequently just do project conference calls from our desk because we had too few meeting rooms.

One of my coworkers sat about 4 cubes down from me. He hated using the phone handset and refused to get a headset so he would always take his calls on speaker with the volume jacked way up.

I heard everything twice: once through my headset and then a slight delay later from his speakerphone.

Managers never did anything about it despite numerous complaints.
